Nice sunny day, and we had a gig last night where all my 6L6 amps got used by various band members, so in unpacking, figured I'd take a little Fender Family portrait for you all to enjoy. Clockwise from top left: 65 Showman with 2x12 cab; 65 Bandmaster 2x12 Combo; 74 Princeton; 65 Tremolux, and 77 Princeton Reverb (with BF faceplate). Not in the picture - Dr. Z Mini Z or Bogen Challenger - decided to keep it in the family today...

Happy Mother's day!

Very nice, looks like you've got a lot of bases covered with your collection.

On another note, how do you like the BM in the 212 combo cab? Which is your main gigging amp for outdoor events?

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I like the BM in the combo a lot - the open back gives different options, and I like it a LOT more now that I replaced the Weber Californias with the Warehouse Speakers G12C/S - great gigging amp. Combo cab is by JD Newell and looks great; I added the tilt back legs to make it more versatile. Custom cover by Tom Palmer at D2F Covers - those guys are great!

Usually for outdoors I'll use the Showman and let our other guitarist borrow the Bandmaster; our female singer played acoustic on half the set and we didn't know how good the monitors would be, so she plugged into the Tremolux, which was the best monitor speaker by far... For indoor gigs, either the Bandmaster or the Tremolux. I've gotten away with the Princeton Reverb with a 1x12 extension cab, but that's usually at shows where the amps are mic'd and we have monitors. Sounds great but not too loud, and if there's no monitors, I can hear myself, but no one else in the band can. When we don't know who's running monitors or it's iffy, we'll go a little louder on stage volume so that monitors are vocals only. When we have a great venue with excellent monitors, we dial it back. Just depends.

Nedorama....damn fine idea and a nice collection you got there! I just updated my Fender Family Portrait yesterday! Nothing like Amp Porn! Maybe we can get a few others here to post up those "Family Portraits".

'69 Bantam (1x15 Vintage Jensen) '64 Princeton, '68 Drip Edge Champ, '66 Bassman, '65 Super Reverb, '84 Concert, and an early '63 Reissue Reverb Unit. I just need a Deluxe to finish out my "Family".

I'll need to shoot another "class portrait" pretty soon.

T2 and Arjay - wow - very nice family portraits! I have a ways to go, but this is a good start after 14 years of hunting. Still looking for a Deluxe Reverb, and if I find one that's been mongrelized, I very much like Arjay's idea of making it into a piggyback head…

May have to do another one of these, but add in the guitars and basses. Another year...

Thanks Ned. It appears we both have a Deluxe on our wish list!

I really like Arjays' Blond Deluxe (Spankmaster?) something about that combo really screams "Got to Have It"!

And Arjay I never tire of seeing your collection...But it STILL needs that Super Reverb

Appears we are all seeking "Targets of Opportunity" for that next amp!

As nice as that Vibrolux is, you could finish that with your eyes closed!

My family is down to four...

Only amps on my wish list are a '64 Vibroverb and a Twin Reverb with some JBLs

My favorite is still the Super Reverb ('74), the best $600 I ever spent! With the original CTS Alnicos, it doesn't get any better IMO.

I'm dealing with a bunch of hoarders...no wonder these things are so hard to find.

(not mine, taken off "another Fender appreciation site")

Swerve -

Start off small. back in the 80's, I had a Music Man 65 410RD; great amp, but I then moved to a 5th floor walkup in Hoboken. Sold it, and spent several years with a rack-based system.

Moved out to LA in 94, and got a Tweed Bronco, which was fun, and then realized that a real amp for gigging was needed. Started off buying the '74 Princeton for $250 off eBay in 2000, and have carefully been buying ever since. I usually go for amps that have been modded or aren't working, as it doesn't take much to get them back into shape, and the fact that I'm keeping vintage Fender amps out there is a side benefit.

Still looking for things on my list, although a larger wattage EL84 Dr. Z may be on the short list for 2014…
