A friend of mine brought his amp over for a new power switch. I figured I'd better go the extra mile and fix these too.

Those are actually spliced (blind and with a chain saw) voice coil wires on that speaker. Nice cord too. This guy (in his 60's) is actually one of the best guitar players I know.

Better to check the amp fuse , it is probably a 15 amps car fuse ...... :lol:

Someone once brought me a Vibro Champ to service, with a 20-amp fuse in it.

Back in my teens, maybe even early 20's, I had no problem using the tin foil method. That was usually after beers and a bong.

I see that often on old amp , not always 15 or 20 but lots more to be safe.
