The blue Oxfords look to be in good shape and sounded (OK), but can't comment on the final sound/ruggedness until finished revamping the chassis.

I tend to play loud sometimes, and am wondering if I shouldn't go ahead and change speakers to a couple have laying around in order to save them.
Might even sound better, for all I know.

I have a Texas Heat, and a Fender gold label special design speakers am considering. (Think the emmy has efficiency rating of 101, and the Heat at 99).

Anyway, does anyone have an opinion on whether I should change out.......or can the Oxfords handle a little punishment?
Subjectively, would my spares improve the sound?

As you stated the Oxfords sounded "Ok"...they're not exactly tone monster speakers. If you are keeping the amp stock and returning it to factory specs, then by all means pull the Oxfords (if original) and replace them. Just need to remember to make sure the replacement speakers can handle the power from the twin.

Good luck with the refurb.

Oxford's 12T6 coil/cone/suspension assembly is good for about 40 watts. If you're diming a Twin Reverb in fully serviceable condition, expect your speakers to see close to one hundred.

Let your conscience be your guide......
