hi~ I like a lil verb. I know you don't need verb on these amps, they sound best guitar straight to amp anyways, and when playing out adding in a drummer and most of the time hard floors, no real need for it. Different story when playing in a room with a bunch of stuff laying around to soak up the amp and add carpet. I have tried a few diff reverb pedals, none are w/out complications (hiss, pops, etc especially when adjusting OR any even small bumps). I have read where others have had this prob too-
Sub in a reverb unit instead of pedal??
(and no the pedals are fine in my other amps, totally quiet AND i have repeated same results with a buddy's deluxe - he just doesn't use reverb)
Even worse when I jumper the channels. Even a tv on in the same room freaks the amp, it is like my handwired tube beast is just sensitive to all things, which is fine because I want it to be sensitive to my playing. I am just saying that about the tv to help the possible diagnosis.
fyi I have tried other types of pedals, OD's(fine no pops/hiss when switching on/off), boost pedal(again fine), delay pedal(pops when switching on/off) -
is it some sorta impedance issue? or is it that 5E3's don't like time altering pedals?
Thanks in advance for any help~

Not sure exactly what problem you are describing but I quit running a Boss FRV-1 reverb pedal though my 5F6A clone because of the large increase in background noise due to the pedal. The pedal was totally unusable in my high gain Wrecking Ball (Trainwreck Express clone). The 5E3 is not a high gain amp, but it does break up easily, so that may be the cause.

I use a Strymon bluesky reverb pedal with my Fender 57' tweed deluxe, I also jumper the bright channel to the normal, sounds great, zero issues. If I don't add a little reverb it sounds a bit dull, this could even happen.Image

What a beautiful felis domesticus!

Your kitty is the spitting image of our beloved Purkey whom we were forced to put down a year ago this month.

She was a rock & roll cat too.

Rawk on!

Arjay

I got some other 12ay7's coming. I have rolled the other positions - but the other thing is that the hotter I got the amp (jumped and cranked with humbkrs ) the worse the pedals are. Oh well as long as I don't turn /adjust/bump the pedal I'm good. Going from ax7 to at7 in v2, its way better as well. If I ever figure it out I will post, thanks~

Dogs have masters - Cat's have servants. Those guitars and amps your cat was drawn to were actually his.
