Hello,
My first post here. I have what I believe is a late '82 / early '83 Rivera Concert. I found this amp in Germany, and it's 220V. Did some looking around, and to have a new transformer put in is gonna cost me over $500.00. This is Germany of course, everything is not cheap here. But, my question is this. How can I tell if this is an original transformer/wiring harness, etc.? If I provide a serial number will it identify it? Any and all responses are welcome!

ingoloid,

Welcome to Forum! :D

Yes, all stamped numbers off the power transformer would be nice. Photos would be nice, too.

You are in danger of violating the law of diminishing return -- this amp is only worth $500 to $625. Unless you can reduce the cost of the new P/T by at least half, you're likely to find yourself buried financially.

True...that's what was quoted to me, and they wont do it anways for fear of damaging the amp???

My solution is getting a step-up transformer $100 +/-

I'm just really curious about how it's 220V......how did it get over here? Did it come from factory that way?

If I told you how much a few locals have offered...you'd not believe me.

Fender offered this amp as a export model, with a multi-tap power transformer and an input voltage selector installed on the rear panel (in lieu of the AC convenience outlet)......

Your amp is apparently a US-spec model that someone brought over then later sold (likely an American GI stationed in Germany).

If the amp is otherwise operating correctly, an outboard step-up transformer is significantly more economical than installing a new PT.

Thanks for info. There is no voltage selector switch on back, straight cable to P / T. Also, after doing some more research, I think its a 1984, and it has a Fender Blue speaker.

Here's the SN# F410344

Number on speaker: 020910 and 67-8416

I will try to post some Pic's soon as I can.

The speaker's date code does indicate a 1984 issue......Eminence, made in the 16th week of '84. If original to the amp, then your conjecture is likely accurate.

I too am an owner of a Concert II, the 2x10 version and it is a pretty good sounding amp. Well built and was quite road worthy and my main gigging amp throughout the 80's/90's. I bought mine new in 84. I even used it while stationed in Germany with a Step Up Transformer. I used a 3000 watt one but I was going the other way since the amp was a 110 vs 220 version.

I would be interested to see the transformers of your amp. If it is not an export version with a voltage selector switch it might have been converted to the 220 volt. Pics will help for sure.

Here's a pic.
