Hi there.

I'm on the market for a new amp. I know I want a Silverface. I know I want 4x10's.

I grew up with two Original Blackface Super's in my family....so I've been looking at Silverface Super's mostly....but now I'm getting interested in the Silverface Bassman 10's...

Which one is cleaner/thicker? Takes pedals well?

I play Rickenbackers mostly. Definitely a single coil guy.

HELP.

The Bassman 10 uses a sealed-back enclosure with speakers voiced for a bass instrument. It lacks the accouterments typical of silverface guitar amps (reverb and trem) and it weighs a bit more than a Super Reverb. If you're fine with that then that's your amp.

Personally I'd stick with the SR.

If you are playing a Rickenbacker you will want the great sounding reverb from the Super! A great combination!

+1

Plus you get a classic Fender trem circuit.

"Born On The Bayou", anyone?

Thanks guys!

I'll be settling on a Silverface Super.

I use a Trem and a Reverb pedal either way. I just have such a deep love for Supers.

I have a Bassman 10 that I've had almost 30 years. It is terrible with a guitar through it.
I bought it years ago to use my P-Bass through it. I love it for bass, guitar Not So Much

71' Super Reverb - Tone is great (especially with the Ric). The only weird issue is the grill frame is a little too short. You can see that odd space below the face plate...I'll replace that.
