While going through all my old stuff, I found this. Completely forgot about it many...many years ago. I'm pretty certain it's an original 63'. The tubes probably need replaced but other than that it's in Excellent condition and very clean. Was wondering if anyone knew what it was worth.

Well... it's not a '63.

The Blackface Deluxe Reverb was produced 1964- (early) 1967

According to the Tube Chart, it is CBS era and was made in March of 1966. These Tube Charts are being reproduced though, so that's no test of authenticity, esp. for this amp.

This amp is suspect because the speaker is not original, s/b an Oxford.

Fender Logo is not original, maybe not even genuine Fender but a Repro.

Grillcloth is not original, s/b Wheat color.

Can't enlarge the pics, but knobs seem to have set screw at #1 instead of #10.

It may be a '66, but far from original.

Assuming it works, and with all the refurbishment that would be needed (Cap Job at minimum), I think an eBay auction w/ a starting price of $1300 would be fair... and then let the Market tell you what it's worth.

cheers!

As far as its age, the serial number stamped on the chassis will tell the tale.

Thank you for checking into it. As for the grill cloth, i've searched goog, and found no other with the black cloth so i'd say you're right. Set screw is @ #10. Are you sure about the D120f not being the correct speaker? I was under the impression that most DR's came with either the D120 or the D120f..but I know absolutely nothing about Fender gear.

Speaker is definitely a replacement, although Fender branded.

Ampwares provides a nice overview of Fender Amps.

It's also missing the Top Back Panel...

And, no one can say what's going on inside. In order to do that, we'd need tranny codes and a pic of the interior of the chassis.

cheers!

Gray-basket JBL's with the Fender-marked orange-and-silver foil-cal's on the magnet cover first appeared in mid '68 (standard JBL's with the traditional gold-and-silver foil-cal's continued to be factory-installed at Fullerton as well).

How does someone completely forget about a blackface deluxe reverb?

A...yup... my thoughts exactly...

Me thinks we might have had a Seller trolling the waters of the Fender Forum...

It'll be interesting to see if he exists beyond the pair of posts he's already made...

cheers!

I'm not losing to much sleep if someone tries to sneak a sales ad in. As long as they're not blatantly ignoring the rules I don't think it's a big deal.

However, one should be more clever with their story. :P

It's not a sales ad......he's farming for intel with which to create one, likely to be posted on C/L or Ebay.

Don't guess I can blame someone for doing a little market research.

True, but I'm more comfortable when someone is up front about it from the git.
