Acquired this beauty recently.

Its an absolute virgin with everything still original: tubes, caps, etc.

Very nice condition. The Mallory main PSU filter caps are original, too (24th week of 1966). I would ramp-up this amp before playing it. Pretty sure those caps need to be reformed.

Those nice TFK signal tubes! And two RCA 7025. Pretty sure that the original owner swap them out all at the same time. In the mid 1960's. Mullard GZ34, too. All the tubes are prolly worth $400 or more.

I've been looking for a nice BFDR. This is one of the best that I've seen in awhile. Enjoy! :D

Nikola,

Which do you think you'll like better? The BF Pro Reverb or the DR? Two great amps, for sure.

VERY NICE !!

Looks as clean as my Deluxe !

One Tip:

If ever doing any work, it's a good idea to re-route the 1500uF resistors spanning the Tube Sockets at V2, V3 so they're not directly over the socket, they can be routed outside the 'circle'. This relieves the resistors from the Heat Stress created by the Tubes.

Congrats !!

cheers!

BMW2002Ti, not really sure yet, will need to do a proper service and see how this baby performs then  .

Even being this original, this baby is very, very quiet .. no hiss, hum, or at least its so minimal  ..

Not really sure how I'll like the 1x12" configuration when everything is done (I plan on putting a replacement speaker with at least 100dB to help the amp in the 'loudness department'  )

I use Einszett 1Z Plastic Cleaner

Image

and

Image

Einszett 1Z Vinyl Rubber Care and Protectant from Germany ('cause you know the Germans always make good stuff... ) on Tolex.

It's a big brand amongst Porsche owners and I've used it better than 10 years on my 964 Cabriolet, my '76 BMW 2002 & my '90 BMW 325is (E30).

It's also used by many Boaters for it's superior UV protection.

The Cleaner is super effective (you will not believe how dirty your cleaning rag will be... much more than soap/water, fantastic or any other household cleaner - even removes cigarette Tar & Nicotine).

The Protectant contains both plasticizers and UV protectants, restores a nice deep color. Plus, it doesn't dry greasy or glossy and repels dust.

Also, it contains no silicones or formaline, is water-based and biodegradable. Extremely long-lasting.

@ $32 for the pair it's not cheap, but you use so little, it lasts a long time (I do all my cars annually and my Amps, and my current bottles are from 2009 and more than half full).

It's just the best product out there... I know... over the years, I've tried them all !

cheers!

This is going to be one good amp. One that will prolly outlive us all. You are kinda like a part-time caretaker. A very nice amp. Great one for the collection.
