Indeed!

I barely have time for my modest roster of "guilty pleasures".

Well it is finally completed...the three and a half year journey to find a nice Blackface Bassman is nearly at an end. I found the '66 cab a couple years ago and have now finished the refurb on the '66 head. Well I did some of the work, Arjay redid the valance (you can see on page one what he had to work with) and tonight it came in the mail (thanks Arjay for the C-Clips too!) The only thing left to do is wait for the mounting hardware to come in the mail so I can get that head mounted for full tilt back mode! I can't thank Arjay enough for the work he does, he sure matched the valance (to include the correct pitch for the logo!), he is a true artist!

Well o.k. I know the rule so without any more blabbering from me...

Only a year's difference in age between the original cloth on the cab and that of the restored valence panel (itself recycled material "harvested" from a '65 Showman enclosure). The cosmetic restoration seems to have come to a successful conclusion.

RAWK ON!

Yes it has and I couldn't have done it without help from you and advice from a few others. This is what this forum is truly about. I have learned so much here about doing amp refurbs and in some cases what NOT to Do too!

The weekend after next it heads to my amp tech for a long overdue cap job, some fresh TAD 6L6's Short bottles, and possibly that "Bias Fix" Beemer suggested. I was going to keep those Sov-Tek 6L6's in it, but they are so tall, they damn near hit the bottom of the cab, so I'll keep em for a back up set and give the TAD's a try.

Use those Sov-Tek's in your Concert Amp or your Super Reverb. The excessive bottle height won't matter in a combo amp.

Very nice job! :D

FYI: The Tungsol 6L6GC-STR are a short bottle config, too. Esp compared to the EH or JJ 6L6GC. The TS are about the height of NOS GE's.

Beemer...I am thinking of using these in my Bassman. I bought 2 matched pairs a while back and wanted to give em try.

http://www.thetubestore.com/Tubes/6L6-5 ... 6L6WGC-STR

Supposed to be close to the old GE's and came recommended especially for a Bassman, and was think of going with a set in my Bantam too if it turns out I like. If it turns out they aren't that great then I'll give your suggestion a try.

And Lightning...Don't worry, this amp will get played...and when I feel the need for some reverb, then it will be BFSR Time!

Speaking of the Iguana... I believe they're having the 25th anniversary of the Monday Night Blues Jam this coming Monday! Yup, it's been going on for 25 years!!
