Cones that is...

I have a Jensen C12N that I recently put into my '67 Deluxe - wonderful speaker btw.

It has a seamed cone, but the Seller stated that it had been reconed so I assumed that the seamed cone was a less expensive reconing option.

But I have since run across several vintage Jensens w/ seamed cones and also read somewhere that some of these originally had them. Such as this Jensen C12N which coincidentally, was made just a couple weeks before mine (13th week of '66).

I've also read some of the debate re. Seamed vs. Seamless speakers... what are your thoughts?

Some have suggested that a seamed replacement cone was used in mine as a nod toward originality.

What do you think..??

TIA !

cheers!

Most vintage speakers employed a seamed cone for ease of manufacturing. Exceptions to that are the JBL's and Altec's which both feature a curvilinear molded diaphragm.
