I have a 1973 Pro Reverb serial number A09673 that has a black face panel and tube configuration matching the '65 Pro Reverb. I have not been able to find any reference to this animal anywhere and am wondering if maybe it was a modification job. I bought the amp in about 1976 from a friend who bought it new at a local music store. Any clue as to what the heck I have here would be appreciated. I am including pix to help aid in solving the mystery! Thanks Dirk
I am posting pictures on my Facebook Page: Dirk Wieringa. If anyone has any information I would really appreciate it.
I would love to post the pix here but can not figure out how.

Welcome to the Forum!

Serial numbers appear to be from BF Pro Reverb era (1967). Post photos to Photobucket. Then, copy & paste the IMG link info to this site's message box.

What makes you sure it's a 73? Maybe it just sat in a music store for years.

+1

The AA165 tube array remained constant up until the introduction of the AA1009 circuit revision which supplanted the original GZ34 rectifier tube for a 5U4GB.

I posted link to pictures. On the front (right on the black panel) it says that the design and circuits were patented in 72 and on the back it says manufactured in the U.S.A 73.

The "QA" stamp on the tube chart implies that the amp was completed in January of 1967.

Ignore those numbers -- they have nothing to do with a date. They're Fender's in-house method of chassis ID when assembling these amps.

here's a 66 that says 73 also
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1966-Fender-Pro ... 2335775d6d

There is also a BF on ebay that someone says is a 1970 based on the serial, but I don't know if it really is or not.

There's absolutely nothing abnormal or remarkable about your amp.

Thanks for the information about the stamp on the tube chart. It is actually an "O A" which means that this is a 1965 made in January!! I am SO PSYCHED!!! The set screws on the knobs are also at the "10" position further verifying the year. This is a good day!! Thanks for the help...YES!!!

Can you take photos the serial numbers on the transformers and any stamped alpha-numerics on the speakers? A photo of the circuit would really be nice.

What's everyone's opinion on what this amp really is?
