Hi, hopefully I am ok posting in this forum even though my amp is 8-10 years old. I am the second owner and I have some newbish questions.

1. Is there a specific startup and shutdown procedure? I understand the use of the standby switch for times like taking a break but should it be started up or shutdown with the standby in what position? I still have the OE tubes and would like to take care of them. Is there a recommended procedure?

2. Channels - when to use the 6db gain vs. the regular? Is it just a personal sound preference or is one better than the other? Like using microphones for example.

3. In the manual - N. Bass Control, last sentence, "If all tone controls are full counter -clockwise, there will be no sound". What is the purpose of this? I thought I broke it until I read this :x

4. External speaker jack - I have another cabinet with a 4 ohm 12'' but the amp is trashed. Can I connect it directly here?

5. Footswitch - This allows the guitar to be plugged in to channel 1 or 2 but still turn on the reverb or vibrato without unplugging and moving the guitar to channel 3 or 4?

6. Hum - I have a slight hum when it's on. I am to understand it cannot be eliminated completely, only minimized using the bias adjustment since I don't have a ground switch like the original, older models.

7. Can two channels be used simultaneously? Like two guitars or a mic and a guitar?

Sorry for asking, but this is my first "tube" and "quality" amp and I don't want to let the smoke out of it.

Power ON , wait at less 1 minutes and put Stanby to "play" . If you take a break for half hour or less live the amp on Stanby . Save you OE tubes , keep bias ac cold as you can . Don't know what is bias ? look on the web or answer later

Hum : unmatched output power tube , bad tube or ...Dont use the bias pot if you don't know what you are doing .

Yes

Check if the fuse is the right one . Many second amp use a too powerfull fuse and the amp is not protected

The Twin Reverb's two channels are "out of phase" with one another, as with all dual-channel vintage Fender amps equipped with reverb. To access both channels simultaneously and put them in phase, use an A/B/Y switching device such as the Radial Big Shot foot pedal which features a built-in phase switch for just such situations.

There are no "channels 1 and 2" nor "channels 3 and 4". You have two channels, each with a pair of inputs (marked "1" and "2"). Plugging into either jack of the "vibrato" channel will afford access to both the reverb and tremolo. The reverb will operate without a footswitch but the footswitch must be used to engage the tremolo. The "normal" channel provides straight amplification sans the effects via its #1 and #2 inputs.

Input #2 of both channels is attenuated by -6dB and is usually reserved for extreme high-gain input signals such as those generated by an electric piano, keyboard synthesizer, or (!!!) accordion. Some find it useful with a guitar when a multitude of high-gain effects are used simultaneously.

The extension speaker jack is wired in parallel with the primary output and any load connected to this jack will affect the overall output impedance. Adding a single 4Ω speaker such as you describe will effectively halve the total impedance from 4Ω to 2Ω. The amp *may* be operated in this mode but a better choice would be using an 8Ω speaker load with the extension jack, reducing the total impedance to roughly 2.6Ω. In any case, the Twin Reverb is plenty loud with only its internal complement of two 12's.

Hum ; may need new filter capacitors, and bias circuit filter cap too
