Folks if you run across one of those NOS 5AR4/GZ34 ECG Phillips Rectifiers that was mislabeled as a 5V4 pick em up. BMW2002Ti swore by this tube, so when I got an opportunity to try one (thanks Steve) I did. Tuff tube high output tube. See info below.

Measured output tube voltages and currents with a line voltage of 123 volts.
Plate Voltage 424 Volts
Screen Voltage 422 Volts
Cathode Current V4, 35ma.
Cathode Current V5, 34ma.
Plate Dissipation V4 14.84 watts
Plate Dissipation V5, 14.82
Output power into 8 ohms at point of clipping 22 watts (13.26vac into 8 ohm resistive load @ 300Hz.
Both output tubes stabilize at a bulb temperature of 400 degrees F. (approximately)

I put this "New" Recitifier into my '64 Princeton during it's recent servicing (it's first complete check up in 49 years of life). It also got a pair of NOS JAN Phillips 6V6 power tubes and it's long overdue three prong cord. Three of the card board Mallory's off the board were replaced along with one of the Blue Molded tone caps.

As I understand it, the numbers your seeing above means this tube is capable of handling duties with 6L6's as well with no issues.

Somewhere in my Dad's house I've got an NOS Mullard 5U4G. It's such a beautiful tube I'm tempted to build an amp just to use that one tube.

My bet is that those Mullard 5U4G are made by either Brimar, GEC/MOV, or a US company and relabeled. Either way, it is a very good tube. But, if it has a "coke-bottle" shape it is not a direct substitue for a 5U4GB or GZ34/5AR4.
