Hi guys,
First post, been lurking here a while......
I've got a dripedge Bandmaster w/ Bassman tx and Bassman 2x12 small cab. Thinking of replacing the tired 1258s with something new and could use some suggestions. I know it's like asking how big is a tree........but most of the reviews I'm reading are in open combos. I play mostly clean, maybe a little boost or Zendrive, if I wasn't old and weak would think about a couple EV12ls, but lately I find myself Taking the BM when I play out just because I can pack it.........what works for you?

The last Bandmaster with two by 12 cab I fixed (1969 BMR, TFL5005D), I put 2 X Weber 12A125 (30 watt rating) into the cab. Very nice, clean tone. Loud as all get out.

My late '67 drip-edge silverface Bandmaster Amp (matching set) came to me with a mismatched pair of speakers -- one 8Ω Celestion G12-35, one 4Ω modern Fender/Eminence of unknown pedigree. I replaced them with a matched pair of 1966-dated Jensen Concert Series EM1201's. It now sounds much like a brand-new Bandmaster would in 1967. Bright, articulate, punchy.

Look at the WGS warehouse range, they seem to perform well and are not hard on the pocket. :D

Welcome to the forum, Terickson !! For my '67 Band Master, got a Weber California and a Celestion V-30. But my cab is open-backed. Works great for my purposes. Art

I've been very happy with Warehouse Speakers for two of my Fenders. For a clsoed Bandmaster cab (small mid 60's) I went with the G12C's and really like them. For my 1965 2x12 Bandmaster combo, I went with the G12C/S and really like them for the open back cab (from newellamps.com). Great speakers for the price and great service.

Thanks for the input, guys. At this point, I'm leaning towards the g12c or the California. But, I have a friend with a boatload of old stuff, think I'll talk to him before I jump.
Thanks again, Thor.

FYI I replaced the ceramic Californias with metal dust caps in my Bandmaster combo with the Warehouse G12C/S. The ceramic California and metal dust caps were far too shrill and didn't break up well for my tastes.

Thanks, would probably go with cloth caps on the Calis......
For the price, looks hard to beat the G12c.
