Is the tremolo also operative on the normal channel?

It sounds as though some previous owner may have performed the "Fritz Mod" on your amp. I too have a '78 DR and having the built-in effects available on both channels is not a factory-wired configuration.

Save that Westinghouse 12AT7 and, if it checks as "good", use it in your V3 or V6 position.

You have the reverb on the NORMAL channel? Not on the VIBRATO channel?

Thanks!

If so, it's even stranger than first imagined.

It's think the issue is *a little* more complex than a tube problem.

At any rate, the tube you used is likely not the cause of these symptoms. There's something else going on.

Kalzim7878,

There would need to be some major circuit changes for NORMAL to have reverb and VIBRATO not have reverb. Like complete mis-wiring of a couple 12AX7 and one 12AT7 sockets. Close-up of photos of your amp's circuit board would be nice.
