Well no matter what it is a weber is going in there.... I agree from what I can ascertain it's not really an amp speaker.

Be sure to specify a 4-ohm voice-coil.

So it has to be 4-OHM?

Thanks

So I got the amp today. It sounds allright..nothing fantastic...defiently better than solid state or any of the made in China tube amps I have tried... but somethng tells me a weber speaker will make it shine.

Also, I know they are different amps, but BUILD quality wise how does this 66 Champ compare to a modern reissue of a Princeton? Cabinet quality and so forth. This champ I assume it PTP wired right?

Thanks for the input and help.

The vintage Champ is hand-wired, with an eyelet board (only the oldest Fender tweeds and woodies were true "PTP"). The cabinet is pine, with finger-joined corners. You can toss it down the stairs and it will likely remain intact. The components are held together with real solder and assembled by people who took pride in their craft. And the components themselves are for the most part milspec -- the same parts that took us to the moon and safely back. The construction quality of most contemporary amps sold by the "600-lb gorillas" pales in comparison.

You've got nice piece of vintage issue there.
