I recently came across a 1967 Fender press release about their new Solid State Amps. There were the PA system and reverb unit, and (looking a little different than when they came out) were the Solid State Twin and Bassman. But the weird thing was the Solid State Dual Showman - I'd never seen anything like it. The head looked like the top part of the Solid State Twin and the bottom looked like a silverface Dual Showman bottom with the drip edge. The bottom had the usual Fender logo in the upper left corner and it had the metal strip across it with the Fender logo and the printed 'solid state'. The whole contraption was on a rolling, tilting chrome stand like a Vox Super Beatle or something. I remember the whole '60's solid state line and the later Super Showman, but nothing like this. Did they ever make any of these things?

I've read of a solid-state Showman but never actually seen it (or a pic of it).

Can you please post a copy of that press release?

Scan it and upload to photobucket.com It'a easy to post from there. You'll have to create an account, but it's free.

Please do. :D I would like to see a photo of that amp too!

I did find mention of a solid state Dual Showman on telecaster.com :

http://www.tdpri.com/forum/amp-central- ... place.html

Don't know if this is the same amp the OP is talking about.

Jerry, that one on TDPRI forum is not a genuine Fender amp in my opinion. Looks like one of the Philippine or Vietnam G.I. specials that someone modified.

I too would like to see the literature on the solid state dual showman...would be an interesting piece of Fenderology.

Tony and Arjay are correct, of course.

I was curious and just googled and looked at one of the first links I saw. Found more information about the Gabby Industries model.

Has anyone ever seen a photo on the Net of the solid-state Dual Showman? I've only seen the solid-state Super Showman. Must be a very, very rare bird.

It's been a month now, Strat Slinger.

Perhaps he got mugged at the mall while shopping for Christmas gifts.
