I have a Rivera type Super Champ, and I have a few questions concerning this:
-The Danish SC site, which seems to have been closed down, proposed a screen grid resistor mod. Is this necessary? If so, i would like to know what to do. I have very little experience with electronics, so I need it detailed if possible. Perhaps somone has a copy of the Danish site's instructions?
-Does this amp need new caps? It seems to have been little used although I have changed all tubes.
-My amp has the EV speaker, but I still would like the bass a little tighter. Any suggestions?

Thanks

If the amp has never had the original electrolytics replaced, it's likely time to do so now. IIRC, the Super Champ uses a 20/40/80 cap can arrangement similar to the Princeton and Princeton Reverb. Fresh caps supplying ripple-free DC voltage may improve the amp's bass response. I'd replace the bias cap as well and check the power-rail resistors for any signs of component drift or thermal overload.

Thanks for a very quick answer. New caps will be installed, but can you please tell where I can find the power rail resistor? Does sombody have a drawing of the layout of the SC?

You'll find the schematic here......

" Where I can find the power rail resistor? "

Use good quality metal-oxide 2-watt rated resistors in the rail. Keep the same resistance values as stock.

I have found the schematics, but does anybody have the lay out of the amp?

I have certainly got the relevant resistors in a drawer, but I don't know which resistor to swapp. Wich one is the rail resistor?

Thanks

On the schematic you'll see a triangle, square, half-circle, and blank along the power rail. This pertains to the marks/leads on the cap can. There are 1K-ohm, 4.7k-ohm, and 10k-ohm resistors in the rail. Sometimes the 10k-ohm is on the cap can leads. And the 1k-ohm and 4.7k-ohm are on the edge of the breadboard --- closest to the can.

When I get home, I'll try to post a photo of a Vibro-Champ layout, which I believe is close to this Super Champ.

ok... if you look at the photo, you can see the 1k-ohm and 10k-ohm resistors in series on the left edge of the breadboard of the AB764 Vibro-Champ. Your amp may have the 4.7k-ohm where the 10k-ohm is on the VC. And the 10k-ohm soldered between the triangle post and the post with no markings --- on the bottom of the cap can.

Note the markings on the bottom of the cap can and the wiring going to the breadboard.
