Play the amp daily for a couple of hours and in two or three weeks those speakers will hit the sweet spot they're known for.

Rawk on!

love alnico speakers with all older fender BF and SF amps. Just suits my ears.
the only ceramic I use with the older fenders is a EVM 12. Sounds/acts like an alnico I guess because of the 100 watts handling and the huge magnet in the 20 watt SFDR

I played with the band last night and even though the speakers need a breakin period they were still much better than the Utahs. I was suprised at how loud the were, I turned my amp up to 5 and couldn't stand in front of it as I usually do, it was too loud, so this is a fairly efficient speaker. Definitely had the bell like fender tone, very tri-dimensional, (lots of depth and room, not hitting any walls) I was really blown away as to how great my pedals were, RC Booster & Lovepedal Eternity which is just a really good tube screamer, very, very smooth with pedals, nice top end, no fizz, and nice compression. I am looking forward to these being broken in. Also, these speakers are just the right volume for me, not as loud as a 100 DB Celestion but louder than the Utahs. I think I'm going to really like these.

There is nothing sonically redeeming about a Utah loudspeaker. Not now, not when they were new, not ever.

You made a good choice, Mr. Strum.

12A125A are quite light at 2.72Kg each (comparing to JBL D120F at 6.4Kg each).

I was wondering how would 12F150 perform with the same amp comparing to 12A125A's?! :?:

The ceramic "F" series Webers sound a LOT different than the "A" series. More efficient for same size magnet and diameter. Deeper bass and cleaner highs. More of a "modern amp" tone.

The alnicos (A) tend to be more mellow. Sooner and slower onset of harmonics. More of a "vintage" tone. I usually go with alnico vintage line with tube rectified powered Fender amps. And ceramic (F) with solid-state rectified amps. Just a generalization.

This is what makes me lean towards the F, as I'm looking at replacing a stock Oxford on the DeLuxe Reverb. :?:

The option of 50W on the F is also interesting comparing to 30W on the A.

I have a matched pair of '66 Concert Series Jensen's in my '67 silverface Bandmaster and they do sound quite sweet.
