Can anyone help me deal with this?

I have read online how to do this with Silverface Twins and other MV amps.. But i just dont get it.

I have acknowledged i need a 100K ohm 1 watt resistor to replace the pot.. But how do i wire that into the amps circuit? My best guess would be to remove the 2 of the 3 wires from the MV pot and just solder the resistor between those wires i just took of the pot..

... I dont know ...
All help is appreciated!

Why not merely dime the master volume and never again touch the knob?

It's a helluva lot easier than unassing the pot and a lot less unsightly than having a vacant hole in the amp's front panel......

Because when i dime the master volume i get a buzz sound.
Not very loud buzz tho, but its is still annoying to hear.

My friend-o did the same thing and had the same "problem" with his SF twin.. And removing the MV worked for him..

I will either have the MV pot still in the hole, doing nothing or have it connected to the Negative feedback loop..

Yeah Feely, so you know which two wires are carrying the signal, right? I'd go with a metal oxide for quiet operation, a carbon comp for old-times-sake(your call). I wouldn't advise a 100KL in the NFB loop. JMHO, Art

That's all I did with my MVP Twin. My Twin didn't buzz though.

The buzzing at "10" could be a sign that the main filter caps need replacing.

A distinct possibility, Steve.

Yep, I'm whitch ya !! It's unlikely the MV pot is the buzz culprit. IMO running the that guy wide open will expose any weak spots in the amp. Art
