A friend of mine has posted a question regarding Fender amps as a challenge and through 2 weeks of searching, I've yet to find an answer to this and was hoping the fine folks here could shed some light on it. The question is as follows:

During one specific year Fender produced one amplifier that was named/nomenclatured/badged under three different distinct names, WHAT year did this occur ? AND what were the 3 different names given to this one amplifier?

Does anyone have the answer to this question?

More than 1 year:

1949 - 1953: Champion, Champion 600, 600

Also see "The Soul of Tone" by Tom Wheeler.

There are probably others, particularly in the transition years between Tweed, Brownface, and Blackface.

I can think of one amp that was known by two different names but not three -- that being the Vibro Champ and Bronco.

The Dual Professional and Super of 1947 were the same amp.

If you go by circuit designation, there is the AA763 Vibroverb, Vibrolux, Tremolux, Super Reverb, Pro, and Showman.

But I think the Champion/Champion 600/600 is the only single amp with three names. The schematics were all labeled "Champ-Amp".

Spent a little time in the books researching this last night and the Champion seems to be the only model that meets all of the riddle's criteria.

IMO the only other possible candidate might've been the post-1964 Bassman (marketed variously as "Bassman", "Bassman 50", and "Bassman 70") but these circuits though somewhat similar, differed substantially to the point that each revision had its own distinct schematic -- especially so with the ultra-linear model.

Yeah. That's why I discounted the AA763s I listed. They may have the same circuit nomenclature, but they are all different amps.

Wonder when/if we'll hear back from the OP?

I'd like to know his buddy's answer to the riddle.

Why do I have this feeling that we've been "trolled"?

The evidence, though compelling, remains largely circumstantial at this point......

If you search the OP's question with quotes around the text, the Facebook pages for Greg's Guitars and Gbase come up in the search results. I think this is a legitimate question, but you may or may not hear back from OP.
