I think you can pretty much figure out what this thread is about.

My '67 bandmaster reacts differently with the aftermarket vibrato foot pedal than it does with just a jumper on the foot pedal jack. I didn't pick up on the ticking sound cause up to date I've just had the jack shorted with a jumper. Odd thing is it only ticks when I plug in the foot pedal. When i revert to the jumper, it goes away.

Anybody else have a similiar problem using the foot pedal? I'm thinking that a better shielded cable going from the jack to the switch might help. Any thoughts?

Here's a pic of the circuit.

Are sure you are connecting the correct RCA leads of the foot switch to the outlets on the back of the amp? Try swapping the connections and see what happens.

If you have a single switch on the foot switch -- I'd suspect a faulty aftermarket unit.

The cable need not be shielded at all as no signal is passing through it -- merely the supply voltage for V3A's control grid and plate. The brownface footswitches used mere zip-cord to connect them to the phono jack. The same with the early blackfaces up until early 1965.

BMW,
Yes, it's an single switch pedal. I"ll give it a try with a different one once I track one down. I have a dual foot pedal somewhere, just gotta find it and give that one a try. Thanks.

Arjay,
Thanks for info, won't waste my time with that whole "shielded" theory.

+1

If no trem-tick was detected using a shorting plug then the footswitch itself is suspect.

I had a similar problem with a 1965 Band Master. AB 763 circuit.

The guru's debated the various fixes and discussed the old Fender Tech notes on the remedy. A new tube, and a jumper capacitor across the oscilator solved the problem. My foot switch was new, so it had nothing to do with the problem.

It was just a few weeks ago. Here it is. Photos included. Hope it helps.
