I'm a big fan of Greeny, too. But, you prolly don't need a '59 Les Paul and a Twin Reverb or Dual Showman to get his tone down. Unless you plan on taking your act on the road. :D It won't hurt, but you can get the tone with a nice DR and a plain old LPS. And PG's fingers.

I remember a friend told me, long ago, he saw FM in SF back in the Fillmore West days. And their concert was the loudest he'd ever been to. I believe that they toured with Jeff Beck, at the time.

Ah nice story. Love hearing about it. Would give a lot to be at one of them old legendary shows! As far as gear goes, the 59´ original les paul is some what out of reach :p But i do have a wonderful gibson les paul 58 HR custom shop with slim 60s neck, that i love so much and it just screams with the deluxe SF i have. . Amp wise, I know the twin is a beast both in weight and sound, but always loved em, and its easy to get hooked collecting this vintage fender stuff, just love em:)

A little update! Have been looking at it now and can confirm following:

- Has Tilt legs with patent pending and serial number on legs
- Has the -oh so nice but can be so deceiving AB763 tube chart
- Has "Snowman 8" knobs
- Has the old pattern Silverface frontweave with Silver, no turquoise in it i think at least

In addition the things mentioned before with drip edge etc. Will get it tomorrow or Monday and then I will start posting pics. But I'm starting to wonder if its actually an earlier then 69. Will be fun to find out. Either way, it sounded spectacular, and feel its a great find!

Likely, there'll be a date ink-stamped on the inside of the chassis. Once we see that, it'll give us an idea of what to look for to determine the circuit revision.

Hello again! Finally got the amp, and got a chance to try it out a bit. Found one serial number on right side next to reverb output : A 11496 Looked it up and saw it should belong in early 1968, so its getting interesting.

But i know what is required now, and thats where trouble comes into paradise. To get this quest done with i need to get the chassis open and get some nice pictures of the circuit board etc. Only one problem. I know absolutly nothing about opening these things up. SOoo is there a guide somewhere or something, so i do it right and not least safely, so i dont bbq myself :)

Update. Took a leap of faith and opened it up. Took a lot of pictures, and gonna start posting now! Still alive :p

Lets see if this does it.

Added a group of photos on photobucket. Hopefully its allowed for everyone to see. Sorry first time doing this! Tried getting pictures of every serial number i could find! Maybe this will help us. See the ink stamp inside chassis is 0468 in the end, and hoping this is 4th week of 68!

Built in the fourth week of 1968 -- that makes it an AB763 chassis. The Jensen speaker is not original to the amp but it is a made-for-Fender C12N dating to 1965, likely from a blackface Twin Reverb or a Bassman (are both speakers the same?).

Looks like you got all the good stuff there, congratulations.

This is so sweet. Thanks a lot Arjay, Your help is great, and so fantastic experts like you keep sharing knowledge!

Like previous mentioned there is quite a lot of noise when its turned on. Think its called white noise. But nothing really bad, but could prolly need a good service.

Both speakers are same. Weird they date all the way back to 65, but I dont mind. Sound is very smooth, good vintage warmth.

The output transformer has been changed for european 220V, but i will recieve the original american 110 V as soon as he got back home. So happy I took the chance on this one now!!

It's the power transformer that's likely been changed to accommodate European voltage -- the output transformer remains the same regardless.

If the ex-owner happens to give you the original P/T, it should be marked with Fender P/N 022756 or possibly 125P34A.

While Im at it. The amp was missing the footswitch, not a disaster, but is it possible to get replacement for those somewhere? Doesnt have to be vintage by any means. But maybe the new ones for reissues doesnt work?

Available on ebay, doesn't have to be a vintage one .. its a switch only.
