I'm trying to determine how much is a fair deal for both parties in selling my original 1967 Deluxe Reverb amp. From what I've seen online I'd guess that the amp is in fair-good condition. I've also seen some sites which list the amps by a 10 pt rating system but I really have no idea what all would go into that rating. The amp has been a gigging amp through the years, it was my Fathers and was passed down to me in 1998. It's in all original condition except the tubes have been replaced of course, and I had the power cord replaced to the 3 prong cord. I do not have the original foot switch. Most recently the reverb pan went out, I looked at it myself, didn't seem to be fixable. Had a local expert look at it who told me that it would need to be replaced, that over time the small loops which the coils attached to inside the pan on either side, would recede back into the holes or simply break off? (I obviously have no idea the correct terminology here!), but the reverb pan is only about a $20 part from what I can tell so I can't imagine that would affect the value all that much. Other than that it has always worked great for me over the years. It's a little banged up aesthetically, there are some scratches, tears in the black vinyl covering, mainly on the corners, worn and a few chips. The grille cloth is completely intact, no tears, but has a slight worn faded look to it.

So I've received several offers of around $1200-1350 does this sound like a fair deal from what I have described?

Thanks!

Wrong.

To get the maximum value from any vintage Fender amp, it's imperative that it be in as close to original as-manufactured condition as possible. Reverb tanks are dated (just as transformers, speakers, and pots) and a cheap replacement likely will knock two to three hundred dollars off of the amp's value. Your amp tech jerked you off -- the original tank could've been repaired for $40, thus preserving the historical integrity.

I have the original reverb tank still in the amp, I haven't replaced it. But lets say assuming that it does need to be replaced and cannot be fixed, or even if it can be fixed, I'm still not sure what the value would be in its current condition. You say replacing it would knock $200-300 of it's value, starting from where? All I really need to know is it worth $1300 as is. Or more, or less?

A fully functioning blackface Deluxe Reverb in good cosmetic shape with all original parts is worth at least TWICE that.

Skeptical?

Check what they go for on Ebay.

Yes, I know that. I have seen many fully functional 66-67's in good cosmetic shape listed for anywhere between $2100-3000, not that they are selling for. On reverb.com they have 3 that were sold in what they call "very good condition" for $1950-2500. I don't have a fully functional amp in very good condition. What I'm trying to find out, as I described in my original post is, what is MY amp, in it's current condition of which I described, WITHOUT putting any more money into it, worth RIGHT NOW. Do you have even an educated guess you could give me?

How about posting some pics so we can see what shape it's in cosmetically? Perhaps remove the chassis so we can get an idea of how original the amp is.

I agree with Arjay, The reverb tank can be easily fixed for $40 and you'll keep the amp original.

My "educated guess" consists of telling you that if you post a comprehensive portfolio of quality, high-rez photographs reflecting every aspect of the amp inside and out, I *might* be able to hazard a "WAG".

Failing that, you're soliciting a critique on a pig in a poke.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll get some pics up on here later tonight or tomorrow and see if you could give me just a rough estimate that would be great! I appreciate it.

Oh and I really don't get the pig in a poke reference...haha

LaGrange11, are these the actual reverb springs that attach inside the tank's mechanism? Or the springs that suspend the mechanism from the outer body? Or the tiny transducers (choke-like objects) connected to the input & output wires? A good close-up photo will definitely help.

And photos including boo-boo's on the amp & the circuitry will help determine price.

BTW.. you run Pearly Gate humbuckers in your guitar? :D
