Careful, Jerry.

The locals are liable to think that the 35th moved back into George.

My dream amp is a modeling amp that actually does what the marketing folks claim, is light weight, has the reliability of the stuff Leo built, and cost less than $200. You did say dream amp.

Seriously, when it comes to vintage Fenders, my favorite is a 1964 Princeton Reverb with the Jensen speaker. For me, it is the perfect little tone monster and I think the '64s were the only PRs that are pre-cbs. Being Pre-cbs is not critical, it doesn't even necessarily have to be a blackface, but having "Fender Electric Instruments" on the faceplate would be the icing on the cake.

I also like the "Tuxedo" princeton but it's not my dream amp because I need the reverb to enhance my amateurish playing.

I think that era of PR's were the only ones to come from Fender with GZ34 rectifiers. Fender switched to the 5U4GB in late 1964, early 1965.

I have one of these AA764, too. And it has the best tone of any PR I've heard. Which is saying a lot.

My '65 PR seems to belie that theorem......

In point of fact, I believe the change to a 5U4GB rectifier occurred early in the silverface era as I've seen and worked on many drip-edge '68 models equipped with the GZ34.
