Art,

Interesting. Never seen this color coded, lacquered wire in a Fender. The last thing I remember seeing this, is a table top TFK radio.

Test drove the amp through my SR speakers (OEM CTS alnico) and my Tremolux cab (2 x 10 inch JBL K110). Very much the SR signature tone. Running GE 7581A at 22 watts per tube. Bluesy OD, with great bass and clean highs.

Now to find a FAMOUS BLUESMAN logo plate. :D

Jerry,

I put new Genalex ECC83/B759 into V1 and V2 (got a bunch from a friend on another board). I've used them a a couple of amps. But, others that have used them love them in input stages. Very quiet and nice vintage tone.

Be curious to see how you like them in your SR.

No problem Steve. If you say they are good, then they are good!

I'll let you know after tomorrow !

Outstanding bottles.

I only had a handful (now long since gone) but they were sweet and mellow, kinda like a nice warm 5751.

I picked up my SFSR from BMW2002Ti (Steve) today.

Brought it back home and when I was finally able to get it back together and fire it up! All I can say is WOW!! (Note: There was no problem getting the amp back together, the wife's car battery died when she got back from an errand today, had to get her car road ready first.)

Steve really knows his stuff on Fender Amps, especially Super Reverbs. It sounds simply outstanding. It is louder than before and just sounds great!

I'm not blessed with the vocabulary of some our members here in describing the Fender tone, but there is no mistaking this is a Leo Fender Amplifier and a Super Reverb.

I am 110% satisfied with the work that Steve did on my amp. I know he already posted photos, but I shot a couple more just to have them. He is amazing with amp knowledge and his soldering work is, well, just look at it. :)

Steve said the circuit is totally AB763. Who could ask for anything more.

The 1969 Fender Super Reverb is FINISHED !!!

Jerry,

Thanks, for the compliments. Hey, how do those Genalex ECC83/B759 sound? Supposed to be pretty good with low background noise. Spiral wound heaters.

For those interested, I put in GE 7581A (Owensboro, KY vintage). So, that explains the slightly louder output. I like them in these vintage amps, for their long life as well as tone. Close to BP RCA 6L6GCs.

BTW.. did you redo the tolex? Looks pretty nice compared to th e"before" photo.

Should last a good while. Enjoy!

Thanks! It seems that this era Fender amps like a nice stable phase inverter, up to spec. The 0.1mfd coupling caps from the PI to the 6L6GC are 1000VDC rated Russian mil spec PIOs (K40Y-9).

The Jupiter Vintage caps sound much like the Astron or Blue Molded, right from the get-go.
