Vintage C12N or JBL D120F.

A Weber 12F150 or one of the new offerings from WGS might also work well. Check with "Nedorama", he's a big WGS fan and owns several different models. The Weber will *approximate* the tone of a vintage Jensen after a suitable break-in period and I mention it only because many do not have the patience to hunt down a Chicago-made C12NA nor the facilities to restore and recondition them (if necessary).

+1

Doesn't get any better than that! The C12Q you mentioned is a wonderful speaker in the DR, but the C12N will give you more clean headroom and is little more efficient, so it really depends on what you're looking for...

If the speaker is serviceable I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Thanks Arjay - I have indeed enjoyed their G12C/S in my 2x12 Bandmaster combo, as well as their G12C's in my closed 2x12 cab. The WGS was a much better fit for my sound than the Weber ceramic Californias (with aluminum dustcaps) that I originally put in them. I got turned on to them by a friend who redid my Showman and had tested out numerous 12" speakers for his Deluxe Reverb, including the Kendrick Black Frame. For him, the Kendrick was slightly better, but not at twice the price of the WGS speakers.

Then again, I went with Weber AlNiCo 10A125s for my Tremolux cab, which I'm loving.

I installed a pair of alnico Weber's into a client's Custom Vibrolux Reverb some years back, replacing the OEM C10Q imports. Big improvement!
