Yes you can. Your amp has the bias pot. So, adjust the readings on your single bias adapter to desired amount. It's good to measure the anode plate voltage and adjust the idle bias to a preferred idle dissipation:

Where dissipation (in watts) = (anode plate voltage) times (idle bias current, amps)

So, if the anode plate volts = 462VDC, to get 36 watts of dissipation for the two 6L6GC's = 0.0779 amps for the TWO 6L6GC's. Or 0.03895 amps per 6L6GC.

Adjust to 38.95 mA per 6L6GC.

Remember, as you adjust one tube, you will effect the other tube's idle point. So, a compromise between the two values maybe needed --- depending on how closely matched the two 6L6GC's.

Caution about the high DC voltage of a live amp.

Hey guys..... just wanted to express my appreciation for all your help in reviving my Pro. After some new tubes, caps, a volume pot, reverb tank, a couple of resistors, some general cleaning and a pair of new speakers it sounds 100X better than it has in decades. But a decade ago I didn't have this page or access to the experience and tips you guys provided. I really like the old amp now.

I'm on a tight budget and I don't play well at all so this won't be used professionally, which is why I gave in and went low on the speakers. I got a pair of 8 ohm WGS ET65's and wired them in parallel, and to tell the truth I can't play well enough to miss not having the C12N Jensens that I wanted.

An amp can only be original once, but it wasn't 100% original when I got it 30 years ago and it needed some TLC then. Now it's not only working but working extremely well. It still has a little hiss but no crackles or pops and the hiss is nothing anyone more than 5 feet away would notice unless I turn it up to 4 or higher.

As much as I enjoyed the process of doing the repair and hearing the results I do wish it wasn't so loud. It doesn't get happy unless I turn it up loud enough for my neighbors to hear. I probably wouldn't mind and maybe they wouldn't either if my playing was better, but until a few weeks ago I hadn't played a guitar in 15+ years and let me tell you I was amazed at how much I suck at it.

Got lots of practicing to do now but at least I have an amp that makes it enjoyable. Many thanks again for the help.

Randy

I wouldn't call a pair of WGS ET65's "low" by any yardstick.

Enjoy your "new/old" amp -- now resurrected just as with Lazarus in the Old Testament.

Great quote! :)

By low I meant less expensive because I couldn't afford to pop for authentic Jensens. Didn't intend for that to sound disrespectful towards WGS but I guess it did. I listened to a bunch of speakers and kept going back to WGS for the sound and price. They are great bang-for-the-buck speakers and sound VERY good in the old amp!

I guess I'm a tone nut like a lot of people in here. As soon as I got the amp where I wanted it I started to fiddle with my second Strat, a Pro-Tone Squire, mostly because I didn't want to experiment on my Am Std Strat. I installed some vintage reissue pups and swapped the pots for some some CTS 250's and wow what a difference! It has more of a chime or jangle tone than my Am Standard and it's a ton of fun to play! I'm starting to really enjoy this again.

The Pro Tone Squier's are really top-shelf instruments -- I'm not surprised that it responded so well to a few well-planned upgrades.
