JZL, There are a few tests that you might want to try, if you have a decent multi-meter. I'll preface this by saying that the definitive OT arc test is called a"Hi-Pot" test. This requires commercial equipment, found at transformer or electric motor builder/rebuilder's shops...DIY...For the choke: Disconnect leads, test ohmage between leads, 30-500ohms is OK(my Fender amp chokes measure about 100 ohms)..... For the OT:Disconnect leads; on the primary side test ohmage between B+(center tap)lead and each plate lead, 30 -300ohms is OK(my '67 Band Master reads 72 and 79ohms per side), 10% disparity is tolerable. On the secondary or speaker side; test the ohmage between the two leads, 0.1-5ohms is OK(my Band Master reads 1.2ohms). Lastly, you should measure no electrical connection between the primary and secondary leads..... There are a couple other active tests, but they require an audio generator and oscilloscope. Good Hunting! Art
