Pick-up only...... so if anyone is in the Portland Oregon area.

Fender Vintage Brownface Pro on shopgoodwill.com.

Unbelievable what some people donate to charity. Good for them..... good for someone looking for a great amp at possibly a great price.

FWIW - I have purchased (or won) a few things from this particular Goodwill.... including my 1949 Bell & Howell external speaker cab loaded with the original 12" Jensen and a 1956 Silvertone 1333 amp -also all original. Its amazing what that store seems to get.

Nice amp! I thought that brownface Pro's had a 15-inch speaker. These 5881 driven amps have a distinctly different tone than the tweeds or blackfaces.

Interesting..... I think you're right.... looks like it was modified to have 2 speakers. Wonder if the it has both speakers AND if they are period correct.

The center-tapped treble tone controls, tube rectifier, and variable NFB loop (presence control) bear the lion's share of the reasons for that sonic bliss.

Arjay, very true! I remember ( a LONG time ago) --- putting TungSol 5881 into an old tweed Fender that had 6L6GB. I think it was a wide panel Super. Anyhow, those TungSol changed the OD dynamics. Some ppl like it, some don't. One thing for sure, they last forever. I mean, I've seen many old amps with original TS 5881 that have their getter rings nearly gone. And the amp still sounds good.

They really built those tubes to last.

BTW... did you see the series on the History of the Lunar landings? Great little bit on Raytheon Division contribution to Inertial Guidance Navigation System. FWIW...

Wide-panel 5B3......with the original alnico Jensen and spare vintage tubes.

A pity that someone with money and brains didn't catch that donor before dropping the amp into the donations bin!

Actually it is a pity someone didn't slap the crap outta the idiot who dropped it off for just being that stupid...unless he knew what he had and this was a true random act of kindness...just in case Karma was watching.

It makes you wonder if someone was just clearing out their folk's house and said..... "Who'd want this old worn out amp..... let's drop it off a Goodwill." Not knowing it could bring some good cash to help out Mom or Dad in their time of need.

It would be great if someone here bid on it and got it.

+1

I scored a coup on Ebay this morning for a non-music related artifact -- priced about forty cents on the dollar for similar items in the secondary market. There are still deals to be had out there.
