no..I just posted randomly....:)
Of course I read it. He mentioned he had the schematic bt they didt have the layout he was looking for.
Certifeid Electronics Technician......so what. He needs help and didnt seem like he was being a $@!&#*% or anything. He was jumped on for no reason IMO.
I am not a reg member on these boards but I have recieved much needed help at times. I just think is sounded very "cliquey" so to speak.

First, the amp viper is referring to is almost impossible to take apart. It's like asking someone to destroy their amp to send some pics. No wonder he's having problems. Second, he's acting like a five year old-has a tantrum if he doesn't get what he wants. He got a picture from another site. He should have left it at that. This is the best forum on the net with the nicest, smartest and funniest Fender heads who have little patience for babys.

Not sure how the thread got nasty. But I do know just how tough it can be to work on these amps!!! I've replaced input jacks on these Twins, Super 60's, and Champ 12's. The Twin's being the most tedious, for a seemingly simple job!!! Given the lifted traces....OOF! Art

@mxvin,, I appreciate the backup. They are a little too crude, either of their age or their egos. To play the guitar is more than playing out,its a way of life for some. Once they figure it out, its too late. :( That is why each year.Out of the 25000 bands to come out of L.A. alone. Less than 5 of those bands will ever "Make It". So, once you realize that, It ,makes the music 100% fun with no attitudes or egos. Then its worth it. I have been there, done that. Even played for a well known country singer for a few years. But I have the most fun :D when I am just playing for myself. That makes it all worth it. 8)

One day they will figure it out. In the meantime,,the good people will help you because they know what its like to be in your situation. The others, just have too much time on their hands. So, I am glad you stand up for a fellow technician. I have turned a lot of tools in the years. Even at Bodine, So its all cool. Thanks Bro!!

@aclempoppi,, I agree, those who don't know about such things talk the most. These things can be nightmares. That Pre-Phenolic board doesn't hold single traces well. I usually end up running wire point to point. And bypass the traces all around. When I restored my 1973 Gibson SG System G-100 Guitar amp. The traces were terrible. So I ended up redoing about 90% of wiring from point to point. But when I was done!! Wow,,The amp sounded Fantastic, The tubes were running hotter, The amperage had increased. Plate Voltages were up to 460vdc. It sounded great, Loud and crystal clear. No 60 cycle hum of anything.you could turn it up 7 amp plug your guitar in and you wouldn't even know a guitar was plugged i until you played a note. But those traces!!! God, I have soldered Thousands of boards in my days. But sometimes these amps are crazy. And I replaced all 4 input jack but the last one is the one that ruined me. And it was the worst one to begin with. Then while the board was out the Reverb pot broke off. So now I gotta get that. Until then I won't attempt to even start re-wiring the traces. But glad to know someone else knows what its like.
Thanks Bro,

Jay

@shimmilou,,, it's I havent checked the year yet. But when I call in for my last parts, I will ask. Then I can also find out if it really is a 150 watter. It may only be 100watts. But its the loudest 100 watts I ever heard. If I plugged this thing in my 4x12?? .Forget it..You would be able to be in the same room. But I gonna sell this soon and get a Mesa Boogie Mark V and be done with it. Although, I really do like my Line6 Vetta 2 150 watts. I has just crazy control over every aspect of the guitar, digitally. Pedals, Mics, Cabinets,All the Best amps ever made. From Matchless to Marshall,Vox,Fender,Mesa,You name it. and with the dual foot controller you can do anything with your feet. It is nice. Not sure if I want to part with it. But if I can get the Boogie, then I wont need anything else.

Viper101...you do realize you could have asked for help in a different way right? Asked if anyone had pics of this area, or could help you with the schematic portion of your dilemma.

When you bragged a bit that you were a certified in electronics...not throwing a stone here, but then you turn around and ask someone to take their amp apart for some pics...sorry but that is a bit of bad form on your part...and makes folks wonder if your just someone yanking their chain!

Realize that sometimes what you write sounds good in your head, but can come across differently that you intended...good or bad sometimes and that works both ways.

Some of these guys have been repairing, rebuilding, and building amps for 40+ years, so they have earned the right to be a bit cantankerous with those asking what you asked. And to be quite frank, it keeps the trolls at bay and from wasting folks time here.

Everyone here on this forum has been most helpful with the couple of amp rebuilds I have done.

Your amp being a "Red Knob Twin" was made sometime between '87 and 94, I have a catalog with it and some more information...it is 100 watts, switchable to 25 watts. If you desire more information...try here, good site...

Add to that, stratele52 asked the OP to provide photos of the problem area, which is a much more reasonable request than asking someone to dismantle a working amp, and the OP never bother to respond.

most of the guys here are very cool and offer info without hesitation. I guess they read into something or whatever. This is a great forum and I have learned quite a bit here.
Sorry for the backlash you got here.
Someone said it sounded like you were bragging about being a certified electrician. IMO..you were just stating that you have some capabilities. Either way hope you fix you fix ur amp.
But if you could provde the pics like you said maybe there could be more insight. Beats taking apart a healthy amp...ya know...

Bill O'Reilly is the master of self-promoting bloviation so spare us yours, Hoss.

Many of the respondents to your question have repaired more Fender amps in the last year than you've ever owned. We proffer assistance, insight, and wisdom regularly but we do not suffer fools lightly......like the one who asked if somebody would take a perfectly-fine amp apart to ascertain a wiring configuration because that same weisenheimer failed to do his homework before jumping into a project, which by your account has now morphed into a broom-and-dustpan job.

Call a janitor.

Viper, you have a Matchless in the line-up? Owned and played a Clubman35 for years. It was my favorite stage amp. Don't let my Fenders hear that!!! Art

Oh my, sounds like a 3 Stooges episode.

As much as I want to read the rest, I can't invest the time in deciphering something so poorly written. It's a personal pet peeve, if you don't even have the time to go back and make sure what you typed makes sense, I'm really not going to bother reading it.
