Hello, i'm from Spain (my english is not so good!) and i've bought a Fender Princeton Reverb from 1978, with all the components originals, except the speaker, that i'm using a vintage Jensen C10R .

Now i want to buy some pedals (overdrive, wah wah, etc...) that could sound really well with this kind of vintage amp. I really love the american sound that i get from the amp, and i want to keep it althought i use an external pedal, so i need you help !!!!!

I'd like to play breaking up the sound from the tubes, but in my home it's almost impossible cause the sound is really loud !!!! so i need pedal to get it .....

What pedals you recommended me ????

I want them for playing Blues, Soul, Folk, Country ...... American Sound 100%

Greetings from Spain and thanks a lot !!!!!!!!!!

My '65 blackface Princeton Reverb sounds great with a Fulltone OCD up front.

+1

My ocd sounds great through all my amps, fenders included. Also note that there are 4 versions of this pedal and they all sound slightly different. It was complete happenstance that I ended up with v3 and I really dig it. So far,its the only distortion pedal that has remained on my board since its acquisition.

But honestly, get out to the stores and try them out. I will say this, pedals are like ice creams, or maybe gelatos, many flavors and you just have to try them to see what you like.

I have a 77 Princeton Reverb, and I really like the following through it for overdrive/boost:
Paul C Timmy
Barber Direct Drive
Keeley Katana Boost

Enjoy!

I turn my PR's volume control up until the knob squeaks, then I break it off so I don't screw that setting up or forget it.

With a Strat (single-coil pickups) I'm up to "6½" or "7" before the amp really starts to grind. With a humbucker-equipped Les Paul, it starts to growl around "4½" or so. This is with no artificial enhancement that an OD pedal would provide. Those volume settings are somewhat reduced when using a Fulltone OCD or similar stompbox.

The speaker also plays a significant role in how the amp performs. My '65 Princeton Reverb is fitted with a CTS alnico from a '67 Super Reverb, which delivers a very warm-and-compressed tone when driven hard.
