I'd dump the Clark in favor of a vintage Super Reverb or Pro Reverb but that's just me......

Chris the Speaker is a Oxford...glad it sounds great to ya as they are not known for the great sonic qualities! Still...one damn clean amp!

A Chicago-made Jensen C12N would make that amp really shine.

That's why I asked, I didn't think those speakers where supposed to sound decent and yet it really does.

A period correct C12N is now on my shopping list !
No Italian wanna bees !

I could always go with a weber 12A150 and box up the original for anyone who needs it original in the future.
Or a 12F150 and keep with the ceramic.

If you install one of these Fender-marked Jensen's with a 1967 date code, no one will ever be the wiser that it wasn't original to the amp......

They turn up on Ebay periodically, usually commanding an additional premium due to their rarity. However, there'll be no functional difference between a Fender-marked speaker and any other vintage Jensen C12NA.

So far I've tried a 5751 in v-2 with excellent results !
No jensen vintage speakers yet, but a few used weber 12F150's out there
I love the sound of vintage Fender and 6V6 tubes !!!

The Weber would be a sonic improvement over the OEM Oxford IMO.

Kinda what I was thinking too.
Then I can box up the oxford for my kids to sell after I'm dead.

I won't lie the amp is posted for sale somewhere that I won't mention here, however its high enough to keep away all but the extreme Deluxe Reverb lovers !!!!

The Piedmont will be posted also after Mr. Clark gets it all spiffy and up to date.

Pretty sure the Deluxe is my till death do us part amp 8)

You guys know I can't get a break !
Every vintage amp I get has a hidden issue that breaks out within 48 hours of purchase.
Otherwise why would it be for sale Right ?

This little bugger has a crackle at the tail of bass notes, getting progressively worse as days go by.
What I've done so far
Replaced the 1.5K ohm resistors over the 6V6's with metal oxide the 470's were fine
Re flowed the solder joints on v-2 (again no crackle on non reverb channel)
tried different tubes on all sockets (found one 6v6 running 10ma off the other and glowing blue).
tensioned v-2 socket

No change in the crackle (again at the end of bass notes or chords).
All the 100K's are dead on within 2% on all of them, however the dude did use some 1/4 100K's on the ones he replaced (last owner = dude)

Have you tried an alternate speaker?
