I know all the black and silver-face Fender amps (bigger than the Deluxe) had bright switches. But, I don't recall ever seeing a blond Fender with a bright switch - are there any? Or, was the bright switch an inovation that happened after the change to black tolex?

Most Blonds either had bright channels or a presence control. The bright switch was a Blackface implementation.

Correct.

However a small number of blackface piggyback models (ie: AA763 and AB763 circuits) were shipped in blonde/gold sparkle cabinetry. I've seen such a cosmetic permutation -- a documentably authentic and original Showman, with its tube chart stamped "NA" (January of 1964). Similar Tremolux's and Bandmaster's pop up periodically on Ebay.

Have them on my Blonde Tremolux. BTW this puppy is an absolute kiiler amp. I think the trannies have one of the sweetest tone. Coupled with those GE STR-7581 & JBL speakers in the cab = crazy smooth bass and really warm midrange. Good high extension and sustain.

One of the best amp, along with the Vibroloux Reverb and the Super Reverb.

Check the tube chart. You will probably find your amp is one of the Blackface AA763s that Arjay mentioned.

This is a blond Tremolux:

Bill,

Yes it has an AA763 tube chart. And the circuit follow that schematic.

There you go. :D

If you look at the Blackface link I posted, it says Fender used white tolex with gold grill cloth in 63/early 64 before switching to black tolex.
