I am in the market to buy a deluxe reverb and came across this one on Craigslist. I am no expert therefore I was wondering what you guys thought of this one? Does $1,100 seem reasonable? Sounds a little high to me. I've reached out to the seller to see if he has any inkling of the amps age and current operating condition.

The amp appears to be a '77 or '78 model. If all original and in serviceable operating condition it's worth about a grand, perhaps $1100.

Thank you Arjay. I'll report back on status when the seller contacts me.

I agree with Arjay.

If you want to buy it , rush , it won't stay there for long.

However, you better be armed with the knowledge of what to look for in order to establish the amp's authenticity and originality.

The uninformed swiftly become dupes in the vintage amp game.

Ask him for a phillips head screwdriver.
You can't blackface them. If it sounds good and everything works, it's a good price for that area. But, I'm just a new guy around here.

Well the guy has not returned my email or text, so it's probably gone. :? That being said I am unarmed with the knowledge of what to look for in a vintage amp so maybe it was for the best.

So where can I get my hands on a good primer (assuming there is one) so that I may arm myself with the knoweldge of tweed, tolex and tubes? :?:

Too bad ,yes it is probably gone BUT NOT SURE . When the price is fair, good Blackface or Silverface amp go very fast . No time to ask questions on forum and learn how ...

It is not the first time I see that.

Well the guy sold it yesterday for $750. I didn't ask him anything else but it sounds like somebody got a good deal. Oh well, easy come, easy go and I still have cash in my pocket.

Thanks for the link Phansford. Mucho appreciated. :D

DJ...yeah you might not have a nice Deluxe Reverb, but you did learn a bit more about vintage amps! So not a total loss.

BTW...here is another good site for learning the differences in Fender amps.
