Hey guys been awhile since I've been on the forum. That being said I have a few questions regarding my Vibro Champ and I was wondering if anybody could help.

1) Is there any difference between the two inputs? Sonicaly I can't tell much difference.

2) Which pre-amp tube (rear facing) is V1 and which is V2? I was thinking about swapping some tubes around to see what tonal differences I can get. I plan on swapping one of the ECC83S with an ECC832, in hopes of getting a little more headroom. It's currently loaded with two JJ ECC83S, a JJ 6V6 and 5y3.

3) Are there any other popular mods or tips you have to improve the tone of these little babies? It already has a Weber signature series speaker in it, but if there is a better one out there I am open to suggestions.

Thanks, gotta run, be back l8tr.

Input 2 is attenuated 6dB down from input 1.

The tube locations on the chassis are numbered from right to left. Thus, V1 is at the extreme right while the V4 rectifier is at the extreme left.

Thanks Arjay it does help!

Follow up question....is V2 the phase inverter?

Also if all this has already been gone over in another thread I don't mind checking it out if someone has the link.

I don't believe the VC has a phase inverter - V1 is the preamp, V2 runs the trem, V3 the Power tube and V4 the rectifier.

Correct.

The single-ended VC's 6V6GT is configured to operate as a power pentode, with a 100% duty cycle.

got it thanks!

So I replaced the V1 ECC83S with a a JJ ECC832 and man what a difference. 8) I have more headroom now and seems to be a little "smoother". I also took a tip from the following website and removed the lower back panel. http://vibrochamp.org/mojo-tips

I think it does make a little bit of a difference. :D

Cool beans!

You happened to have a photo of your amp? I've got this "thing" for Champs and VC's.

Good luck with yours! :D
