Just you don't have knowledge.

Really?

Listen up, pilgrim. I was repairing Fender amps before your momma bought you your first pair of long trousers. In the last eighteen months, I've fixed more Fender amps for my clients than likely you've ever owned. How's that?

Now as for "knowledge", I'm going to graciously give you some. Your C10NS speakers are not original to your amp -- in fact, they're likely not OEM Fender speakers at all. Fender's Jensens were coded as "C10NA".

Knowledge myass! Go read some books.

kawa-175 seems to be one of several "experts" that have shown up in the forum lately. He is just full of useful information. Or maybe just full of it. I've already added him to my ignore list.

Everything I read about the BF VLR, from 65 and 66 I believe, came with C10NS or the part # C8284. I haven't seen any C10NA, C12NA yes, I have one :)

I don't think kawa meant any disrespect, I have a feeling English isn't his first language.

I understand, I already got the WGS G10C to replace the Oxfords that came in mine, so far so good... but I sure would like to try those special Jensens everyone keeps talking about!

That be da one :)

Truly an amazing speaker! I can't imagine what a pair of those would sound like in a Twin! Did you ever get yours reconed?

Here it is next to the other C12N I had

Not sure if it's the recone Dusty did or the fact that the NA is somehow a different speaker. I liked the C12N in my DR but LOVE the C12NA!

Naw, mine are still boxed up......waiting for the right restoration to come along. Perhaps a '66 Pro Reverb or a small-box Bassman.

Now that my home-security upgrades are complete I'll have the time (and the money) to find something suitable.

Cedar, how's the tone of that doped C12N versus the non-doped one? All of my vintage Jensens (US made) are non-doped.

Thanks!

Maybe it's time to get 'em reconed and put 'em in one of your TRs  you can give the JBLs a break...

The one on the left ('66 C12N) had the original cone in it and looked in great shape. The one on the right ('67 C12NA) has a fresh cone. Dusty recommended that cone based on what I told him I like and it came out perfect! Whether it's the doping or new cone that speaker is the best 12" I've tried in my DR. I loved the sweet tone of the C12Q, specially the highs, but it didn't hold it together at loud volumes. The C12N did a much better job keeping it together, tight low end, but the highs weren't as sweet as the Q. The reconed C12NA combined both, even from the first minute I played it! And it just keeps getting better...
