Hi Folks! Unfortunately one of my CTS speaker has cracked (edge of membrane about 4 cm). Does anybody know any repair kit for this No: 137 7915 005379? :( :( :(

Four centimeters (roughly 1-5/8" if my conversion math is correct) is not so extreme that some clear silicone sealant and a thin strip of loose-weave cotton cloth could not be used to effect a durable repair. However, I must caution that the age of this speaker is working against you -- there is no guarantee that additional fractures of the surround would not occur as the paper cone continues to dehydrate and the normal vibration of a speaker diaphragm in use aggravates the situation.

You might consider re-coning or replacing this speaker as a more permanent solution.

Thanks Reroverbial. Yes I'm afraid you are right. Maybe somebody knows special tricks to "hydrate" the edge of membrane. I love this voice and wanna save.

TS, Check out speaker doping. Many blogs and YouTube bits. Using thinned silicone sealers to specialize made-for-speaker products.

One thing, this is an irreversible process. So best to try the doping out on an expendable speaker first.

And doping WILL change the tone. Only a good reconing can possibly give you similar tone to the original and long life.

+1

Which is the primary reason I seldom recommend it.

Doesn't Weber make excellent speakers of just this kind of vintage? Understand, I am thinking about making music and not resale and other non-musical considerations.

Hello Friends.

So, thanks for your advise. I've solved it according to your tips. I watched some video on youtube then made it. The result better then I thought before. My Vintage52 tele loves the old-new tone.

Thanks again.

What solution did you employ?

A thin strip of cotton cloth with a special glue. Upholsterers use. I tried before on a thick paper. After two days concluded but it remained flexible. There is no audible difference between the two speakers.

I'd surely like to see a Japanese-made Jensen.
