To the OP. Why not buy one 1/2 amp and one 1-amp slow-blow fuse? They are designed to handle transient excess current draw, during cold warm-up. And my bet is, that the total peak current allow is about the same, between the two.

Well kept Champs can prolly hande many transient amps before fryings. I've put in 1-amp, 250VDC Littlefuses into Champs and VC for YEARS, I have yet to hear about a blown tranny or popped can cap.

The KEY? STABLE power supply. It doesn't matter what fuse you put into the amp, if the PS stage is unstable, coupling with other stages, motorboating, and all that other bad jazz. You get a fuse eater.
