I'm checking out a company that makes bandmaster repro cabs & it lists a large and small bandmaster cabinets. Any ideas on the dimensions of a large and small bandmaster cabinets? Also did fender make a 2x12 and 2x15 bandmaster cab.
I'd like a small 2x12 cab. Any body in ohio have a beatup 2x12 bandmaster cab?

Dimensions for the "small-box" cab......

21"H x 32"W x 11.5"D

For the vertical "big-box" enclosure (late '67 to 1974)......

39"H x 29"W x 11.5"D

Fifteen-inch speakers were never a factory option for the Bandmaster.

Best of luck.

There are several vendors selling new -- repro -- small box Fender cabs. Those from Larry Rodgers (of Rodgers Amplification) are the most authentic IMO. They're also among the most expensive.

I went with Newell cabs for my Bandmaster 2x12 Combo; he also makes closed cabs as well for reasonable prices. www.newellamps.com

Beaver Bottom Cabs is another good resource, doing all the different year cabinets with period correct wood, tolex and grillcloth. He will also do tone ring baffles.

Or, you may just want to look on CL and ebay. Cabs are expensive to ship, so you may find a real one that with a little work will cost less than a newly made one and have a pedigree. I found my 2 Fender closed cabinets this way and re-habbing them both cost less than buying new repro cabinets.

Wanted to find a small bandmaster cabinet to have built for my latest amp head. It is a dumble clone amp. I have a marshall 1936 2x12 cab but its too spikey and boomy for this head. A small bandmater would fit it nice.
A friend of mine at work has a friend that recovers speaker cabinets. Been checking craigslist in my area for a beat up one. Not much luck.
So, also I've been checking out vendors that build them? Thanks for the help new vendors.
Anybody use armadillo amp works?
Wgs speakers?
I been researching, Mojotone has some amp parts I like.

Nedorama can give you a report on the WGS speakers. He owns several IIRC.

That I do. I like them very much.

When I built my 2x12 Bandmaster combo with the cab from Newell cabs, I thought I wanted the D120 JBL sound and went with the Weber California ceramic 12's, complete with aluminum dustcaps. Great clean speaker, breakup sound was not to my liking. Also the highs from those speakers were way too much to ever use with something like a Tele bridge pickup.

Fast forward to the Showman project, where I bought an old cab from a kid in Bakersfield and fitted it with the G12C's, and with a Showman, they sound great in a closed-back cab. Very happy with the sound.

Sold the Webers out of the Bandmaster, and decided on a pair of the G12C/S, which was a little less treble than the G12C, but great breakup. They've been in the amp for 2 weeks and I still have a smile on my face.. Great speakers from great guys.

I also just finished rehabbiing a 2x10 Tremolux; for that I went with Weber alnico 10A125's, 30 watts each. Will try it out with my Princeton Reverb and Bandmaster this weekend... looking forward to it.

So between the G12C and the G12C/S, they had what I wanted; they have a tone chart on their site that's helpful and they also answer the phone or email with questions (even better). I'd give them a try.

Played the Tremolux cab with my Princeton. reverb yesterday.

Wow. Punchy and crunchy up at around 5, no pedals needed. I think I've found a winner.

Would love to get a down on its luck PR or DR and turn it into a head in a Bandmaster/tremolux size cab - 6v6 goodness. Of course, many of you know the source of my inspiration...

that looks great Arjay - I remember seeing the head cab version of a Princeton a while back as well.

On that Deluxe Reverb, can you share more info? Cut down of an existing cab, does it fit into an existing head cab, or did you roll your own given your cabinetry skills? Love the fact it can use the piggyback clips.

This amp belongs to a friend in Germany -- the furniture is all-new, built in-country by a particularly gifted Teutonic craftsman. It's fashioned to resemble an early '60s piggyback with all of the traditional details -- anchoring hardware on the amp head, tilt-back legs on the speaker enclosure, and blonde/wheatstraw cosmetics throughout. The amp chassis itself is a DRRI model.
