Wow this was a long restoration!:

So I had to create this account because apparently I made one too many unkind comments about the Mustang GT modeling amps and lack of support for previous generation modeling products and was banned from the Fender forum. FWIW, not Brads fault. He did some housecleaning and I happened to be acting like an a-hole at the time. Anyone seen Arth1 lately?

Anyway, the amp came back sounding amazing! It still looks like it's been to hell and back, but the tone is so sweet. Thank you Mud for the referral to the guy in Wappingers'.
The tech said in addition to the cap job, he went ahead and "blackfaced" it for me. I'm a very happy camper! :)

Here is a recording. The piano, bass, and drum machine were recorded 15 years ago. That's my girlfriend (at the time) on piano, and I played the bass and programmed the drum machine.

The guitar part was added using the Super Reverb. The other star of this recording is the Boss CP-1X compressor. What a great compressor pedal this thing is. The combination is incredible. That is the only pedal I used on this recording, the rest is the amp and my Epiphone BB King Lucille:

I am glad you had it restored and than black faced. I listened to tracks and I think it has a very nice clean tone and reverb to die for. Chris blackened my 69 and it is a wonderful sounding amp, and for some reason neither I nor Chris can explain it has a nice early break up around volume 4.5 to 5 and has a nice crunch around 6. I am running it with a nice compliment of tubes all between 1948 and 1970, I hand picked all the preamp tubes and tried them one at a time till I got the tone I was after. I only have 2 GE 1962 6L6GC, and some modern ones I used the GE's and a copper plate GZ34 rectifier tube.
Well enjoy your restored SR,

that's great, I can't say I have the early breakup/crunch thing going. It stays pretty clean until you push it. I had the volume on around 5 or 6 when I made that recording. The Pyle Driver speakers sound surprisingly good to me. I found out through a little research that Derek Trucks used Pyle Drivers in his SR. So maybe that's "a thing"? Whatever the case, I'm real happy with how things turned out and it ran me less than $500 at this point. Just need to find a replacement grill or get this one restored and I'm done. 8)
