Hey, I'm trying to decide which amp to buy between the '65 Fender Twin Reverb 212 reissue and the '65 Fender Twin Reverb Custom 15 reissue.
Any suggestions????

Very interesting. I didn't know there were any Twins with 15" speakers besides mine which I always thought was modified.

I think this paragraph from the amp's product description is informative...
Quote:
In partnership with Eminence, we created an updated speaker based on the now-collectible JBL® D130F model used by Fender in the 1960s and ’70s. This driver’s cast frame, shallow cone, high flux density, large voice coil and aluminum center cap delivers clean, precision performance for steel, jazz and country players (among others!). The speaker’s 3D bass and treble separation will amaze you! [emphasis mine]

I know that when I was gigging with my amp ('78? silverface Twin Reverb w/ 15" JBL D140F-6) I could only get my "magic" tone at outdoor festival gigs since I had to set the volume at 10 to make it sing. At that volume it had the sweetest vocal "singing" tone I've heard. I had guitarists in bands that would come on after us ask to use my amp for their set because they liked the tone so much.

But it was really not possible to get that tone out of the thing at reasonable volumes. Waitresses at indoor venues hated me (literally). But for clean tone it is the best.

My bet would be that the 12's would give you better blues tone and the 15 would be cleaner.

I also have a Twin Reverb Custom 15. It has lots of low end and sounds great. I have been toying with the idea of getting the 2-12's as well if I can persuade my wife. :D

I have played both
and have a 212 twin
the 15 was a Lab amp by Norlin
awsome but wasn't mine :(
I would usee the 15 if you do alot of clean jazz country
and the 212 for rock rockabilly for
the higher frequency
Good luck
