Its cool to see a few examples of even the rarest vintage amps exist in such nice shape. The OT and choke are the same as in my 62 Super. Its also running 6 preamp tubes. Does anyone know how they added the reverb if they are using the harmonic tremolo too? Seems like they would have to add another 12ax7 to power the reverb. Also, anyone know why there are little AB1963 markings in various photos (speakers, bottom of cab, underside of chassis)? I've never seen them before.

No harmonic trem on the '63 Vibroverb -- it utilizes the bias-modulated type as used in the Vibro Champ and Princeton Reverb.

Arjay, I kinda remember that all Fender amps with the three 12AX7 stage "vibrato" section had presence controls. Two 12AX7 or bias wiggles amps did not.

The 6G4 Super, 6G5 Pro, 6G7 Bandmaster, 6G8 Twin, 6G12 Concert, 6G13 Vibrasonic, and 6G14 Showman (all, brownfaces) were the only amps Leo designed with the harmonic trem circuit. All featured the presence control tied to the NFB loop.

Arjay,

Thanks for the clarification.

I had this mixed up with the "-A" designation in these Brownface Fenders. Mixed the use of two or three 12AX7 in the vibrato section. And the presence pot --- which is present (sorry, for pun) in all Pros, Bandmasters, Twins, Concerts, and Vibrasonics in this era.

If I'm not mistaken the early examples of each amp (no "-A" in the designation) used a five-tube pre-amp layout, with two dedicated for the tremolo. Leo later added a third tube to provide stabilization and buffering to remedy some unintended oscillation within the tremolo circuit and thus, the "-A" was added to to denote this alteration.

Couldn't find a schematic for a 6G13 Vibrasonic.

Bill,

I found a link to the Vibrasonic 6G13-A circuit.

http://www.webphix.com/schematic%20heav ... _schem.pdf

Interesting how many of these Brownface and earlier tweed amps ran 12AX7 (7025) PI sections. Lot of gain. But, little current push.

There's a '63 Brownface Princeton on the local CL. Looks like it needs some cleaning and the handle doesn't look original. I think the seller is doing everything he can to sabotage his own sale...... He says it works great then adds "Due to the age of this amp and that it appears to be all original - it could very well blow up when you plug it in at your house/practice space. No returns - sorry. "

Yes, I found a 6G13-A on Ampwares also, but no 6G13.
