Using Retroverbial's phase - :D

I just picked up a 1965 blackface Reverb Tank.

It's been rebuilt with a new replacement tank from Acutronix (USA made). A few caps replaced and new tubes. Tolex has been replaced. Purchased it from a Chicago-based retailer who slashed their asking price by $200, then accepted an offer from me. Free Shipping.

Hence - the Target of Opportunity. :D

I've played it briefly..... thru the '56 Harvard. Wow.... definitely boosts the volume. Love the drippy wet tone. It will be hard to focus the rest of the day.

and a huge THANK YOU to Beemer for advice and reviewing the photos of the guts. Without him..... I might have let this target get away. Thanks Steve. I greatly appreciate the friendship.

I'm not sure Arjay..... its pretty clean looking. The dealer didn't state that it had been replaced. I'd have to look at it in more detail.

It sounds great.

I know its heresy on this site, but I think I am going to sell my 1975 Princeton Reverb. I think i want to remove some of the duplication in the collection. I haven't been the happiest with the PR - I actually like my Vibro Champ over the PR. :? And I still have the '69 drip-edge Princeton (that sits in my son's room).

The Boss '63 Fender Reverb Pedal is also headed for the door. It was a fine fill-in for until I found the real deal. Talked to my son tonight - its hooked up to the Princeton in his room - and he says sell it. (He's off at college)

that is awesome.

May have to shift priorities away from a tremolux head to a nice 6G15. That thing is minty! Congrats.

Neo, you really won't believe what a good 6G15 does. Use this and one of those crazy brownface Fender's with the three 12AX7 driven tremolos --- and you really don't need much else. Oh, I guess fingers help.

+1!

One of the best rigs I ever heard as a kid was the 6G14-A and matching blonde 6G15 owned by a fellow in the next town over from me in southern Illinois. He played a '68 Les Paul Custom and that Showman with the reverb tank sounded absolutely heavenly with it.
