So I get a nasty response from the folks at Amp Parts direct telling me in the future not to "Order parts that are clearly on back order"
If it had been "clearly on back order" I would have shopped elsewhere.
Seems pretty obvious these folks don't want small one at a time business.

I left them a message to cancel my order and refund my dollars.

Just putting it out there

Tell 'em to ESAD.

Then take your business elsewhere.

Next I'm converting the balance pot to a bias adjust
New pot, new wire, new resistors.

Can't find an 18/3 power cord locally ??? 16 gauge is the smallest anyone has, lowes, manards, our local Electronics warehouse Notta !

Yet another shipping charge from Mojo

Oh well, ya can't ask for better service !!!

Check Lowe's or Home Depot -- both of those stores stock AC cords to repair common power tools. They run around twelve bucks.

I did !
16/3 was the smallest I could find, from what others have said it wont fit the hole with the strain relief in place.

I rewired the bias pot, well I replaced the whole mess, the old pot was seized up pretty bad and so I thought I might as well convert to the bias adjustment over the tube matching doohicky.

Can't wait to install some old glass in this and crank her up !!!!

Blues...this is coming along nicely! As for Mojotone, I have used them a couple times and always had great service from them. Angelas has been pretty good too!

Keep the pics coming, I am learning a bit here from this.

I've used both and had great service.

You need to make sure you get one of each color Jewel Lens as well so you can swap 'em out every other night and keep folks guessing. :)

Chris, coming along well. I should have told you to buy single-strand cloth-covered wires. Much easuer to manuever and soider. Nect time.

Sorry about that. Multi=sranded will not effect the performance of the amp. So, no worries, there.

Ya that wire was a beast !!!

Art I collect the old real glass jewels, i have some pretty awesome colors and one red that glows yellow around the edges, very cool looking !

The Amp Parts Direct people stopped sending any responses after I asked for a refund, I'll stop payment on my card if they haven't by Monday.
What a bunch of JERKS !
Sorry I'll watch those outbursts

What did you guys think about the bias conversion ? All I had in 220K's were those massive 2 watt carbon comps got tricky making them fit and I'm not crazy about the leg height, something i can fix later with 2 watt metal oxides.

Chris, your work seems to be moving right along! Good job!!! Those filament wires are a hassle. Just curious about the power tube bias scenario. Your amp has that fixed-cathode bias set-up. Are you planning on trying it that way? And I know, Beemer already touched on the PI circuit. At any rate, you're making good headway. I also use power tool AC cables. Art

I just followed the instructions as per several books i have , the easiest to follow was the how to hot rod your fender amp book at least for the bias change over
The filter caps lesson was a while ago and learned right here.
I've done a couple now and its pretty easy after learning how to build a safe cap discharge tool and how to use it.
If there is more to it than that I'm in trouble !

I have little knowledge of theory, but I can follow instructions 8)
However I'm learning more all the time.

There were a few resistor changes on the main board also, i assume this is what your referring to, see the picture of the bias control pot and circuit i just put on a few pages ago.

The ones sold at Lowe's are pretty beefy, with a milspec-looking 3-prong molded plug on one end and a decent pigtail on the other, with pre-tinned leads. Around three meters long I think. The only vintage post-tweed Fenders they won't fit (without modding the chassis) are the Champs and Princetons that were factory-wired with 2-conductor zip cord.

Yeah, I'm with you on the bias pot and new 220K 5% CC resistors( can't help but dig shiny CC's). Let's wait and get some input from Beemer and some of the other guys, on this particular part of the amp, OK? I know what I would do. But some discussion is best!!! JMO, Art
