Chris, there are places (like Watts Audio or Mojo Tone) that carries tagboards or turret boards. This maybe the best to go, if you are going to rewire the boards. The rivets or turrets are already in the correct positions.

Glad the cabs came out well. Sorry, been away from thread, for a few days. Up in Sierra Mtns (June Lake) freezing me butt off. Whole lake is completely frozen soild. Amazing.

One thing going for your --- is that is a non-verb, non-vibrato amp. Those two EFX add a LOT to the board's component count & complexity.

Hey beemer
Hope your having fun ?
I live on the southern tip of Lake Michigan and so I can relate to frozen lakes !
And the freezing of ones backside., or Arse as Arjay would put it

Take a look when you guys have a minute, those wires in the center that are flying high, are they supposed to be under the first layer of board ???

And yes I found the turret boards and seriously considered a complete rebuild.

PS My son has an audition to play bass with a touring Christian POP/Rock band early next week, I'm sure hoping to have the bassman up and running for him to use.
On the road again !

Chris...I grew up living right on the Lake Michigan lake front in a town called South Haven and let me tell you frozen lake doesn't begin to describe the cold that comes off that lake! BRRRRR!

Pass on Good luck to your son on his audition!

So how far south are ya from South Bend or La Porte? Growing up right on the lake is what made me want to join the AF and head South! There was a very good reason why I spent 11 years of my career in FLORIDA!! You guys have been getting a bit of lake effect or are you far enough south to get what has been blowing in the last couple days?

Here is a pic of our Lighthouse...that right there is enough to make me never set foot in my own hometown during the winter!!!

I'm in Michigan City IN right on the lake
My office is in LaPorte IN
LaPorte is just a few miles (12 or so) from Me, South East a bit.
Sometimes the snow goes over us and dumps on Laporte, most of the time it nails us.
Two years ago it shut down the entire county for several days twice in the same year.

Just finished reading about changing the Phase inverter on the bassman in "how to hot rod your fender amp" and found an excellent section in Pittmans Tube amp book on all of the silverface conversions.
Gonna make this into one sweet bassman ((( GOOD Lord willing))) !

Yeah Winter!!! Couple of miles from the Wisc stateline. Chris, I'm going to suggest a new eyelet board, again. The clean-up isn't worth it, and you'll get a better board. Some of the flying leads are normal( preamp output to the PI and your shielded input grid lines). Otherwise, the lead dress of the wires is very important(under-board wiring is more of a tidieness and lead dress situation). I chose to rewire my Bassman with cloth-covered solid core wire(via old style). So it's not as quiet as a shielded unit. But the pay-off is a very true and organic sound. For lead dress, you'll want to tap into any Ken Fischer and the Valve Wizard's comments on the subject!!! Have fun!!! Art

Not sure how clear the picture is to you guys, however some of the leads can't be to spec, i know the heater leads are WAY too small as per Beemer.
There is a trace here and there of cloth wiring and so I assume the rest of the extremely thin stuff was added at some point.

I ordered my OPT from Amp Parts Direct and they have yet to send me tracking info, all i got so far was an e-mail saying they received my order.
Built to order ???
I ordered the Classic Tone 40-18011 as it was the closest thing I could find to the original, size, foot print etc....

I removed the caps connected with the 150K resistors at the power tubes and plan on slowly moving this amp towards the AA165 specs.

And now I wait for parts
I have orders in with Mojotone (fastest shippers so far)
Antique Electrical Supply (decent speed)
and the transformer (Who Knows) ?

I did go with the F&T filter caps and upped the 70's to 100's
FUN !!!!!

Well there goes my weekend project all shot in the foot :x
Just got an e-mail from the fine folks where I ordered the Tranny (Amp Parts Direct).

Your transformer is on back order and we expect it on Monday and will ship it to me then.

Then went on to blame the NAMM show for the availability of parts
POOH !!!!

I'm not a whiner really ! I'm not

But customer service at Amp Parts Direct stinks !!!
And after paying almost 15 bucks in shipping I could have ordered one from Mojo or Antique Electrical Supply and had it here today for about the same cost.

I e-mailed Classic Tone we will see if they care about their customers at all !

My orders from AES and Mojotone ordered at the same time are due here today according to tracking #'s

Chris, getting very heavy snow here today. Nice, as long as you are indoors. Have plenty of eats and beer. Cable and Wi-Fi is working... :D

One other thing to do is treat those OEM pots with GOOD cleaner for pots and controls (like CAIG Fader Lube). Run a meter across that balance --- soon to be bias --- pot. This is a critical pot that must have clean contact throughout the range.

As for the board. This is what I do. Draw wiring diagram to the pots and sockets. Take photos. Now, I cheat and color the yellow wires with a Sharpee. Just a touch close to where you are going to snip it --- right in the midd;e of your Sharpee markings. Like a few mm's before the pot and socket solder points.

I use red, blue, green, black, & red Sharpee. Take photos after coloring the wires. Once you are comfortable with the drawings and photos --- snip the leads (right in the middle of the Sharpee mark. Leaving some on the pot or socket side and some color on the circuit board side of the wire. And remove the old board intact. You will use this old board to populate and double check the new board's layout. You can also set the length of the yellow flying-leads to appropriate lengths (I like to make them 1/4-1/2 inch longer. Then, trim to fit once you've positioned them correctly.

Good luck!

"positioned them correctly"

+1!

Proper lead dress is absolutely critical to prevent unwanted oscillations and allow the amp to idle quietly.

Filter cap board is nearly finished Yahoo !!!
Had to take a break and get some poor soul out of the county jail 8)

The F&T Caps have much shorter bodies and leads and so i had to get creative with the under wiring.

A few resistors and some soldering and the new board will be ready.

NEXT !!!! The heater wiring  any tips for the big green wires would sure be welcomed !!!!
