Chris, those Angela caps should work out well for you. Have those in my Princeton Reverb clone, Alessandros in the Bogus Bassman and Bandmaster. Don't forget the outer foil orientation as long as you're making the investment! Art

Thanks all
Art I'll get back to ya on that "polarity" type issue when the caps arrive.
I had ordered them directly from Clark and they "lost my info" after several weeks of waiting for the caps

I'm looking for another vintage fender to dig into as we speak, Chicago Craigs List has had a bunch lately 8)
Or finally build my own 5E3 from scratch

Hey Chris, if you're in communication with Clark, they should be able to recommend their prefered orientation. Right? Art

I assume I can just follow the rest of the coupling caps on board
They all seem to be oriented in the same direction across the board

Here they are
Ten minutes into the operation and they sound excellent
Maybe my crazy brain but I had to turn up the Treble a touch, It seemed to warm the sound a bit.

And by the way.....
Must have been a faulty solder joint where the mallory caps were, the little crackle noise the amp had is also gone !
Killed two birds with one stone or two capacitors

Just for fun I plugged in a squier bullet strat my family got me to mod and fool with as a gift and can't believ the tone I'm getting from a guitar they paid 45 bucks for

I do indeed believe tone is about 75% amp 25% guitar (gear wise only for you its in the hands folks). 8)

Chris,

Nice, that those cap sounds good. Good thing about good PIO caps, they really don't need a whole lotta of break-in. These caps sound really good in guitars, too. I like the Russian PIO (K40Y-9 or K42-2) . rated at 200-400VDC for guitars.

Jupiters really give MIM Teles and Strats a nice vintage tone.

This is what i used in my last Tele project, it worked well with the PAF wannabe and the tweaked bridge pickup.
I added a resister to the bridge just like Fender does to work well with the 500K pots

It was a little tight in the control cavity but not too bad.

Those caps looks just like Jensen Copper foil PIO's. Makes one wonder....

They are Jensens, Angela's and several other sellers have them screen print their own names on them.
Pretty sure they are the very same ones Clark uses originally.
Sounds better every time I plug in !!!!
(made in Denmark)

Glad the PIO's are working out in the Clark. If I'm not mistaken, the outer foil is towards the plate, excellent!! I use Sprague Vitamin Q 196P PIO caps in my Strat and Tele(SD Antiquity humbucker neck-pup) with very good results. Art

I have a very strange issue (long detailed description needed)
My 59 Bassman clone has a weird thing going on, If I turn up the normal channel and wave my hand behind V-1 area I get a lot of Hum.
If I crank up the Bright channel and do the same I get nothing !
Something in the normal channel is picking up ???? whatever it is in my hand ????
Weird !

It does the same if the cable gets close to that area (not plugged in)

Any Suggestions ???

Chris,

Mebee a tube or jack-to-grid line picking up EMF noise. Try another 12AX7. That don't work, may need to look under the hood at the solder points (esp ground pts) and the dressing around that input jack.

Check the normal channel input jack, specifically the contact between the shorting prong and the tip prong. I have had problems with that contact opening up and making intermittent contact between the two prongs which can cause hum, crackles and other noises when the amp is on but nothing is plugged in.
