It would be cool to hear from the lurkers and readers of this crazy thread.
Learn anything ??? (besides the fact that the Bondsman is a bit crazy)
By the way ya gotta be to do my job ! 8)

If you dug into this let us know, if it helped you understand your tube amp, let us know.

This was frustrating, fun and very educational, but now i know I'm ready to buy a board (turret I think) and build my own amp from the inside out.
I'm thinking like a low powered tweed twin or a double deluxe with 6V6's and a sweet pair of alnico 12's

OOOH! That BF Champ!!!!

There is a really nice set of mods to get that amp back to the classic 5F1 tweed circuit. With a nice, efficient speaker (read: Weber 8F125 or 150) --- you can play that thing at "10" all day and there is nothing like it.

If only it were a Vibro-Champ. Either way, these amps are legends in the studio.

THAT Bassman AC568 mod you did should be a staple in any Bassman freaks encyclopedia.

Its the thought that counts !
Thanks T2

The reason my posts look weird is that I'm occasionally responding on my i-phone and I'm still getting used to the margins it uses.

And not a drop of hum in that 65 Champ, really should be some, can't tell its on till I hit a note on the guitar.

I love these single-ended 6V6GT amps! Easy to work on and very forgiving practice amps.

Chris,

This has been a great thread. Keep us up to date on the Champ (missing chassis straps?) and the cosmetic restoration of both.

This baby (1969) will need some new caps soon...

The inside is not quite as clean. And has been attacked by a tech that didn't have the proper parts on-hand somewhere along the line. So, she will be getting some new caps soon.

The cab from a different source needed a whole new baffle.

The 67 I have has baffle issues, the sawdust and glue board is literally coming apart from moisture damage.

the board is like 4 7/16" tall by 20" and a real 1/2" thick
Problem is I don't have a table saw and don't want one !!!
Mine won't hold screws any more it just crumbles.

I should re name this thread our fender projects

Blues I've been following the tread from the beginning, lots of ups and downs, congratulations on finally getting it where you want it. You showed a lot of perseverance, Beemer in particular provided a lot of great coaching. I really learned a lot through the thread, I have a 65 Princeton BF and recently got a 66 Super Reverb BF but haven't up the courage to try any work on them yet. I don't have any electronics experience other than a little guitar work and soldering, maybe one day! I love following these treads and a lot of really knowledgable, generous people on the this forum. Keep em coming!
