Hi,
Does anyone have official documented evidence from Fender (ie. adverts or brochures or anything other document) that Fender vintage amps where actually manufactured in the USA.
In particular a Fender Bassman amp Blonde Model: 6G6B, 1964,
the reason being I need to provide proof to Australian Customs this 48 year old was manufactured in the USA. As the free trade agreement being Australia and USA states, US manufactured goods are duty free, but this needs to be proven.
We all assume Fender vintage amps where manufactured in the USA, but there appears to be no proof of this fact available on the internet at any site. Even Wikipedia site does not actually mention the amps where manufactured in the USA.
My other alternatives are pay the duty or ask FMIC (Fender) to fill out some customs documentation 48 years after producing the item?? The chances of Fender doing this seem slim.
Any is welcome.

Thumbing through my copy of the 1964/65 Fender catalog, nowhere does the specific phrase "Made in the United States of America" or "Made in U.S.A" appear. However, you will find this inscription on the rear panel of every Fender amplifier made in 1964......

If that isn't sufficient provenance to lubricate the "bureaucratic wheels", then you'll either have to pay the duty or return the amp to whomever shipped it to you.

Common sense would say that the rear panel and tube label photo would be sufficient. But it appears it must be backed up by Fender document. Currently there is nothing available on the Internet.

This should be enough of a document

It goes into details as to the various manufacturing facilities Fender used over the years.

Hope it helps

My copy of TSOT is just about as shop-worn. Last year I had to wrap the cover's spine in duct tape to keep it from falling off altogether!

I have several amp books, that one gets the most use as a reference.

I use it when Arjay, beemer and the other guys are busy or sleeping and can't get to my questions LOL !!!!!!

I do wish it got into more specifics on each amp, however that would be one BIG old book !'An entire book could be written on the Bassman alone or Champ, Princeton etc.......
I for one would own them all !!!!

I have used the wife's super adhesive several times and yet it keep coming apart.

Blues,

This has been a good book for finding "that" tone. From guitar setup to stomp boxes to amp setups. Even, a little blrub on miking and other studio tricks.

Thanks I will get the book. Soul of tone

But is there any useful quotes I can use now, about manufacture location of the blonde bassman series 1963-1964. Including page number.

Thanks

If they are unable to grasp that concept, I don't see any way they would accept statements from a book by an unknown author (to them) that has no official connection to FMIC. I could write a book on Fender amps that says all amps were made in Mongolia until 1988 when production moved to the Sudan and it would carry as much weight as the Soul Of Tone (which I own and love).

How about looking up patents ?

There are some in the above mentioned book and I'm sure online as well

another book called Fender The sound heard round the world has some patents and a lot of mentioning of the various Californian and Arizona manufacturing facilities Fender used

Best of luck !!!!

A patent doesn't tell you where something was manufactured. A book about Fender or Fender amps would not be sufficient unless they are official "Fender documents" showing where each product, by serial number, was manufactured. The only thing that would seem to qualify as a "Fender document" would be the back of the amp itself as Arjay mentioned but the OP says is inadequate. Unless FMIC provides documentation certifying the country of origin of their products, it would seem that the OP is, sad to say, screwed.
