I have seen bright switches (and deep switches on Bassman's) get wonky with age. In those cases I generally replace them along with the ceramic-disc caps. The symptoms usually disappear subsequent to changing them out.

For sure those switches can wear-out. But they can also be cleaned with contact cleaner and their function tested, like Bill suggested. I've only had to R&R a few over the years, and yeah always seems to be the vib channel(plenty of use?). If you go for an R&R, might want to do the cap too. I usually go with silver mica, but ceramics lay a claim to more resonance. JMO, Art

Ceramic disc caps also lay claim to longetivity. If you use silver mica, get good ones. That are rated 1KV or higher. Avoid any unmarked, generic off-shore brands. These have been known to fail early. Often leaking big-time DC.

It's a common known failure with Ham Radio techs. The recent HK and red Chinese ones having the shortest half-life.
